Very promising email - suggests there is some stock out there at the very least. Did many people preorder with Exspansys? Hopefully there is dozens of us, rather than 100s or 1000s!

What time are your preorders from? Mines 3:15pm yesterday.
Amazon also said they were getting more stock, then cancelled all the orders, and that IS amazon.

How are people getting on with it now?
    Is it actually any use?
Apart from web browsing, what else can you do it with it?
    Can you watch avi's?

I had one for a few days 'till it broke a few weeks ago.
It will play .avis if they're MPEG4s that are 720p or below (though I never had the chance to test this) its needs a very specific codec to play.

It wont play x264,mkv, or divx. There was going to be a VLC Player port for it (which could play every format) but since HP's apparently abandoned the platform VLC wont be coming.

There is a project to get Android running on the Touchpad. If that works there may be a chance to get all kinds of videos playing, but that may not happen.

What else can you do with it?
There are a few places that make apps for it an "app store" like PreWare where you can get all sorts of usefull apps like VLCremote, music players, games and travel apps etc. Kinda like Android though not as diverse.

    Hi all,

The HP touchpad will be available again from HP as they clear their remaining units of the product. I can guarantee it will NOT be tomororw when the product becomes available again to purchase but rather next week towards the middle of the week. I have gotten this information from a reliable source who works at HP in the USA.

Ya rediculous. Also if you are desperate enough to want one from ebay, be careful. A lot of the shipping prices are €50 or more and remember you will have to pay import duty tax thats a lot more €€s you dont see advertised there.

Good luck with that, I tried that at the weekend and the HP site only seems to accept US shipping and billing addresses and the two addresses have to match, I even tried paypal and I kept getting an address error, so you may want to see if the brother will lend you his credit card details!

Yeah, its excellent. The multi tasking is better than any other mobile OS I've used, apps are a bit sparse though. Don't let the low price fool you, this is a very well made and designed tablet and is definitely not a €100 Chinese job. AVIs need an app, it's 7 quid.

I find RTE player and YouTube work really well on it, Grooveshark too. For these alone it's good value for money.

If you actually want one from ebay then don't just run out and bid on the first one you see. Most people who got one and plan on re-selling it probably havent even received theirs yet.

Over the next few days there will be tonnes of them and all the sellers will be competing with each other.

Sigh - no touchpad for me. I guess I'll just have to stick with using either my laptop, or my pc, or my games console, or my phone to browse the internet.

    .....I hate my life.

its cool, I was sceptical at first but the webOS isnt bad. To be honest its fairly cool. Had to download a media player app for 7 quid though, but it plays everything now, AVI, mkv, flac, you name it.

if anyone is actually out there buying these touchpads on ebay for over €200 euro and €100 euro postage they need to be shot for pure stupidity

Can't understand why people are valuing them so high at all... really is just pure madness and people thinking they "have" to get one now or something...

    crazy stuff....

I'm gonna be hanging round for another week or two to see does the prices start to drop and if I can get one for under €150-160 including postage I'll pick one up... there really not worth much more than that in my eyes and as much as I'd like one for a cheap knockdown price I'm not going to let it go to my head and convince myself that there worth €200+

But they are worth €200+ now IMO. They were knocked down from €500+ solely because they are now discontinued, not because they were not worth a lot of money to begin with. I hope I get one because I assume a lot of work will be done on them now (not by HP obviously but by the users) due to the fact that there is now quite a large amount of people with them. It's arguably the 2nd best tablet available.... and if buying at €300 or less then probably the best tablet available for spec/price.

yeah used it on the converse website because they need an American address and an American bank card, and their shipping is very reasonable because they are partnered with dhl. You would have to use the personal shopper service they have, which costs 10 percent of the cost of the item.

Definately not worth over anything near 200.
Its madness seeing people bidding 200 for these on ebay.

99 euro with the hope of android being ported to it. Anything more and its not worth the risk.
As a "lucky person" who posted above that he paid 7 quid for a media player on his shinny new touchpad, these are free on android! Keep paying for those apps and you would have been better off buying a purpose built android tablet that will be supported for years by the manufacturer.

Thats how much for the touchpad + apps. It all adds up.
Might not be such a good bargain after all

Id imagine alot of these people will be a tad disappointed/surprised when they figure out how WEBOS works.
