My order clearly states that they won't charge my credit card without confirming I wish to proceed. If they do, I will be doing a chargeback on my credit card and they can organise returning the Touchpads.
They probably just did a pre auth on the credit card, not an actual charge.

Imo there is no chance they could charge full price because the EU gives you the right to return goods bought over the internet for 7 days.

Yeh I assumed they just did a pre-auth alright...sounds to me like the agent on the phone just didn't know what the procedure was.

    !! Be extremely careful with Expansys.ie !!

I had to cancel my order this morning which was on "awaiting stock" after a friend got charged full price for the 16GB version which is now shipped as well!

We were both told yesterday that placing the order was fine and that difference between retail and discounted price would be applied but after calling them earlier i was told that no, the price shown on my order was the price i would pay! They have some cheek, this is disgraceful business practice  - was lucky enough to be able to cancel my order. They still haven't shown the discounted price. Now waiting on Paypal refund.

First it would be in breach of contract, assuming that when you pre-ordered your contract terms stated the same as the rest of us.

Second even if they did try and charge you the full amount without confirming if you wished to proceed, you can return it for a full refund (less shipping) under the EU distance selling regulations.

    Either way I wouldn't worry.

To be honest I suspect some people are spreading false rumours to try and scare people out of pre-orders and give themselves a better shot.

Rang Jervis again. Seems they sold them this morning first come first serve. I say not one left the store.

How come?, I was in Jervis argos this morning, the manager didn't know whats going on, so many people asked for HP TP, there was none in stock when she checked!!

Ordered through Amazon the other night, and wasn't too pushed about getting one.
But with the hysteria, and me missing out so far, I really want one! Not just a TouchPad, but I have to have a tablet device.
So I've been checking Adverts all morning looking for an iPad!

Fukking stupid €100 bargain is gonna cost me €400+!

How many different stories is that from Jervis now.

Had been on the phone with two different manger for 10-15 mins. Telling me that there were multiple reservations on one item. Then that it couldn't be reserved as per the website now has up. Then they sold them first come first serve.

That was all in the same conversation.

Was just going in circles so gave up.

Same here, no way I am cancelling yet! And got no e-mail so far to say they had no more stock! Fingers crossed :-)

Advent Vega (Android) is only €250 in Currys.

it's only €250, and by all accounts is also a great device. lol, nice ninja edit.

Anyone think there'll be knock on reductions on other tablets seeing as this bargain has absorbed a massive, massive chunk of the tablet market? Although many buying Touchpads wouldn't have bought one at a higher price

Just managed to get a 16gb for €110, as I was first to book it last week Blanchardstown Argos honored my reservation, good luck to all who are still looking.

Advent Vega (Android) is only €250 in Currys.

Its ok but don't be expecting an Ipad experience. Major downside are the screen viewing angles which you will see in store.

A touchpad with Android would be far superior.

I called one argos store and they said the price was a mistake and there was none in stock nationwide. Called a different store and the argos store worker said all the stock was recalled this morning and that argos were only selling them in the UK now, not Ireland.

Has anyone who "successfully" ordered from dabs.ie yesterday got their order status out of security check? Mine's been sitting there for about 24 hours with no change.

    Mines at "Processing"

I don't think so, I was toying with the idea of buying an Advent Vega at double the price, but an iPad, Xoom or Galaxy tab weren't even on the radar.
I'd imagine a lot of buyers are the same.

It seems a lot of these staff don't really have a f*cking clue what is going on.

Seems that way when they both gave 2 different answers. One worker did say that 2 men came into the store this morning to recall the products. It seems very believable. Adding to that the fact there is none in stock nationwide.

Yeah, good point. This Touchpad madness has probably killed the Advent Vega, even at inflated re-sell prices the HP TP would be a better option.

Really glad I order one from every possible supplier as nobody knows who is gong to make good or not. Its madness!

Dont count on it. All the stock is gone now, and I was told its not coming back in. Any new stock argos get, IF they get any at all, will be sold in UK only I was told. Not Ireland.

    Either way I wouldn't worry.

I don't as i cancelled my order (not pre-order) with them. The thing is what i said was in relation with an actual order at full price which was promise to be refunded of the difference when the discounted price is applied. They do have the right to charge full price since both orders were agreed to it buy click "BUY" - What i was highlighting here is that the things told to us yesterday by Expansys are suddenly gone, they denied them even.

As for all the post on "they cant do that, etc..." well its a different story when they actually do! Whatever rights you may have.
