Why would there be a rush? All of the stock is reserved already, its not going to be like elara I would imagine since the stock is all reserved already.

yes a lot of the reserves are for 3-4 days and wont drop back into the system till Monday/Tuesday. I have a reserve Thursday-Sunday for 32GB I shall be in the Thursday though just to make sure

really dont think thats going to stop people showing up!

also, if the price is valid until the 26th it probably means the price wont change til the 27th which is the saturday as i said

Thursday August 25th to Tuesday August 30th 2011

I'm kinda surprised at the length of the reservation actually

On the uk Argos site for touchpads it says

    Additional Information
Current selling price valid until 12/10/2011

English customers have received txt messages with the new price so more than likely it will happen in Ireland tomorrow too.

Not mine, have one in Arklow that doesn't even get in till next Tuesday so will be interesting to see if that will actually worked out. Managed to pick up a 16GB today already from Click (reserved it yesterday when no one was thinking of Click), but my Argos reservation is a 32GB and I already have a friend who'll take the 16GB one off my hands so I've nothing to lose by waiting it out.

If your friend does not want your spare one, please keep me in mind.

Refurb 1st Gen iPads have been spotted on the Apple Store for €300. I know it's not as sweet as a €99 Touchpad, but it's something to consider seeing as it has 12 Month Warranty and more Future Proof. When you include Fatcheese Money Back, and take into account you have to pay for delivery on 90% of sites selling the Touchpad, it's less than €200 difference.

Anywhoo, anyone looking for an alternative, I don't think you can beat a €300 iPad.

Sorry spongebob, have another friend looking for one as well so no chance of it not going I'm afraid. Best of luck with the hunt for one though, its a great little piece of kit.

Really? €300 for an outdated underperforming slow low resolution computer that can't even be used as a phone?

At €99 it would be good value though :D

I got my mail form Amazon at 00:34 . This was a total impulse buy (as was the LG Optimus 7) so if I do get it well and good.

Hmm, I don't see Apple's site crashing from traffic for a 'bargain' like that =/

It's not like we actually need tablets - it's all about the hunt, the frenzy, the mob mentality and the hopeful promise of an Android port. iPad just doesn't cut the cloth here.

I love my iPad but it doesn't support adobe flash. The Touchpad does.

Flash works well on it too. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it performs.

The OS isn't as slick as iOS, I've noticed that it gets bogged down at times and will stutter a bit. But it's really nothing in the grand scheme of things.

It's a fantastic device, i mean when you consider that most of the time people are just going to use it for email, facebook and web access it's great. Apps are pretty non existent tbh. But still, for 129 who's gonna argue!

Depends what way you look at it. When you compare it to a €500 iPad 2, I'd say it is quite a good deal. I'm all for a bargain, and this €99 Touchpad is a brilliant bargain. But at this stage everyone is eating way too much into the hype in fairness. I'd thought I'd recommend a reasonable alternative for those who didn't get one. After all, there isn't many €300 (non Touchpad) Tablets on the market.

I think Apple made the right decision there though. At least it forced sites to push forward with HTML5 (which is a better option for all platforms)

Even though Touchpad supports Flash, it a supposed to be a bit unresponsive, which is not great -particularly on sites which use it heavily (Kongregate for example).

If Apple made the same decision two years ago no progress would have been made by now.

    That site works fine btw!

Loads up games fine. However using touch input instead of a mouse means a lot just wont work. But they still run grand.

Probably not, a lot of people will buy 2 and sell one on. Wait a few months and the price will stabilise.

But in the short term, yes

Argos website seems to be changing slowly. When you search for the HP tablet you now get
    16Gb €110
    32Gb €145

when you click the link the old prices still show up (€439 and €539 respectively).

Are we getting the prices drop today and at these lower prices?? See what happens in the next few hours but it seems to be moving that way.
