Retailers are not making a cent on the TouchPad. HP agreed to pay the retailer directly back the price they were charged minus 99.

Thats what i was thinking, hence the reasoning in not discounting the accessories?? It is mostly just good publicity and goodwill the stores who sold them off cheaply got today, ppl all over the country were f5 crashing sites they hadnt even heard of a few days beforehand.... I however was stuck in meetings all day.... really hoping my argos one comes through!

I'm getting ahead of the game and preordering accessories in the hope of a cut in them :D
    what about the Pre3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Pre_3

This device was also discontinued. Anyone know when we can expect to see this discounted?

Saw this on a UK site:

Update on Amazon orders awaiting delivery estimate. "Last night, they had a small stock which some few people managed to receive. The people with "no delivery estimate" have NO stock allocated to their order. We have merely preordered the product for when it becomes available next. She also confirmed however, that Amazon are in communication with HP and their suppliers to receive more stock. "If or when new stock becomes available, customers who ordered the item last night but are showing "no delivery estimate" are first priority." The next shipment of items will be reserved for those people like ourselves if they can get stock at all."

Got laughed at when I strolled in at half 5. That's 17:30.... :D:o

    :(

we were laughing up our sleeves at people strolling in at a quarter to ten and then joining the queue of over 30 people, even though they knew there was only 8. I dont know what they thought was going to happen

€75 is the rumored price. May be as low as €59!

Think i'm quitting on this bargain hunt . I only want it for browsing and reading comics and it's just not worth the effort of chasing up numerous websites.

Are there any alternatives in a similar price bracket?

Try the Archos 7 tablet. You can get one for about 100 on ebay, I hear they are brilliant

Im sure an equivalent android tablet will come along in coming months at less than 200euro. How much would parts in a touchpad cost?

Thats what i was thinking, hence the reasoning in not discounting the accessories??

Elara quoted the HP directive as 50% off the SRP of all official accessories afair. Just nobody is bothering too much with accessories atm.

Following a few threads on a few sites and i've seen pathetic amounts of abuse towards retailers when people dont get the tablets tho, which seems to be most people. People on hotukdeals trying to organise DDOS attacks on Misco and the like. I think the companies that just returned them to HP made the right decision.

Just a quick reminder to people that if at all possible you should try not buy a touchpad off someone on adverts or ebay for a vastly inflated price.. if no one buys them at the inflated price it may just put people off buying them for profit the next time.

Its unlikely that it will make any difference to the greater scheme of things but I for one wont be spending more than 10% over the reduced prices, anything more than that an im out...

The touchpad is spec'd similar to the ipad 2, minus the rear facing camera and the sexy slim design. Although it's chunkier, cheaper appearance isn't without it's advantages.
You can wirelessly charge in with a "touchstone" accessory. The added thickness is related to the tech that allows this to happen.

Would really appreciate a reservation number for the cork area. Had to sell my iPad a while back thanks to the lovely recession and this touchpad would do the trick nicely.

Ouch, now that is a bit far to go over a well discounted piece of hardware...

I was originally going to get this until the touchpad. I'd say they were the only ones hating the HP deal!
