hate to say it, but wouldn't have the slightest bit of faith in any Argos order. Hopefully I'm wrong though. But that company just isn't as focused on customer service and won't be going to the same lengths as amazon.

I'm hoping as they shift out more product next week that some of these placed orders we're waiting on will get fulfilled.

I'm hopefull but I wonder how much of that next batch is coming across the pond

They were fairly quick to have out of stock when reservations were requested. Some of them didn't have any stock to begin with by the looks of things at the time. I'd be optimistic enough. Apparently them and Amazon are the only people who have orders, and much more people would have been hitting Amazon for huge orders than local Argos stores.

    Hey guys,

I've been having a problem with the web browser on the touchpad. Each time I open the browser I cannot carry out a search as I can't choose my default browser and there is non selected. I have to navigate to Google through my bookmarks. Is this normal for everybody?

Also, I have a reservation for a 32gb tablet in Argos in Dundrum. Reserved for Wednesday week so I don't know how good it would be for anybody. Anyway, if somebody wants it pm me.

pm sent, wouuld love it :)

Spotted this on hotukdeals but it could be BS:

've just got off the phone to Amazon. You can ring them yourselves and they will offer the same information.

Last night, they had a small stock which some few people managed to receive. The people with "no delivery estimate" have NO stock allocated to their order. We have merely preordered the product for when it becomes available next. She also confirmed however, that Amazon are in communication with HP and their suppliers to receive more stock. "If or when new stock becomes available, customers who ordered the item last night but are showing "no delivery estimate" are first priority." The next shipment of items will be reserved for those people like ourselves if they can get stock at all.

Have an order in with Amazon with 'no delivery estimate' and also one in with Expansys with pretty much the same deal.

If any Boardsie gets an extra one for whatever reason I would really appreciate you helping a Tusky out. I will be forever grateful!

Hopefully Argos honour the reservations now. Argos' system is usually fairly reliable, I've never gotten a code that they haven't honoured. Also they were fairly quick to say "out of stock" in most places which suggests that they didn't take a horde of orders that they couldn't fulfill. Have one ordered from Fnac as well but judging by their Twitter it doesn't look too promising.

    Fingers crossed anyway!!

It happened me once at the ages ago but don't think I had the phone number put in and when I went to collect it wasn't in so I was pretty pissed off.

I did get a call last year from another store that I had an item reserved in that they were out of stock though.

I hope that if they don't have them in stock that they will ring to let me know at least though as it's over an hours drive away.

    Should have clarified..
HP is set to replenish the supply of TouchPad tablets this week, spokeswoman Bryna Corcoran said in a statement on Sunday
    It's a statement from Sunday.

The spokeswoman said the supply would be replenished this week (this is what we just saw).. so I don't know where the idea that "they shift out more product next week".

I'd be highly optimistic about amazon orders. They have extremely good customer service and I'd say they'll be busting their balls to fulfil all orders. Bear in mind they'll also have a long-standing working relationship with HP that HP will want to continue, so they'll be able to lean on HP for some extra stock.

That said if HP are making them across in the US and selling them at what I would imagine less than cost, I doubt they will bother to pay to ship it over to the UK when they will easily get sell them in the USA. What do people think? If they are not here already anyone think HP will pay to send them over??

Anyone know where they are actually made??

If they don't ring me and I turn up I won't be impressed. I'll probably be around the store anyway this weekend so it wouldn't be too much hassle for me personally but it's just a crap thing to do to a customer. I'm sure it wouldn't take them too long to send out a group e-mail saying "didn't get stock, cyaaaaa".

Shanghai as far as i'm aware. It probably costs the same to send them to the US as it does to the EU.

Seems like might have judged Argos a bit too soon based on the response posts! - might have just had bad experiences

HP will be pressured into giving units to retailers who have overbooked i reckon

If Amazon are still taking orders on them, be it at higher prices, you would hope those of us with confirmations will get some news soon. I would not be impressed if people who ordered after me were given delivery first just because they paid higher price.

They can be a nightmare once you've paid instore and you're waiting for the product to be dropped to the counter.

But generally the website reservations work perfectly.

    *crosses fingers*

Unless some of the Argos staff hide them until reserve is over and snap them up themselves!

HP have discontinued them, hence the reduction... they're not manufacturing them anymore AFAIK.

The last of their stock has been allocated.. didn't HP issue a statement saying exactly this? I could be wrong.

Amazon themselves are not selling the 16GB anymore

But if you ordered at the full price why should they give it to you at the cheap price, if that was the case, all of us could have done that.

Says on the website you pay the price it is on the day. HP are reducing the price so that they can shift all their units... Argos will happily oblige as has every other retailer

For the people who have Argos reservations, is your collection date in the future or are ye just waiting for a price drop ?
