A lot of people hear tablet, think iPad, assume everythings the same, buy buy buy.
And somehow are usually able to get them, the bastards

Even more surprising is the number of people who bought it without actually understanding what it is.

    Or bought 4... or 5

It's not a bad OS alright but there's a surprising number of people here who've bought these who think they'll have a nice shiny bug free Android ROM by next week with a lovely one click installer. It never works out like that. Even more surprising is the number of people who bought it without actually understanding what it is.

Yeah, fair point. I'm happy to stick with WebOS for now, it does everything I want the tab to do, and does it well. Android would be a nice bonus, but was not my basis for buying.

'Stuck with WebOS' isn't such a burden IMHO, it's really not a bad OS, just not quite as good as you'd want on a €4-500 odd tablet.

That's fine for now but what happens if/when the security holes in it are found.

Have expansys removed the part saying they will contact you to confirm order?

Exactly, there's a very good change the android port will be rubbish or never work properly. If I get my hands on one, I'll be sticking with webos until a relatively stable android port happens. All I'll be using it for is internet, email and listening to music so apps don't really bother me.

I really hope those whoe bought them to try and flog for profit get stuck with them and make a loss.

There's no way I'll be buying one for more than cost.

Bin it? I don't know, I'll worry about that later.

Same here. Just out of principle.

but these are selling below cost, the demand is that high i reckon no one would get stuck with em,€200 all day everyday, i only want one though :O(

What you don't take into account is that they are limited in supply. How low do you think the ebay auctions will be when they literally can't be bought anywhere else. Admittedly, if they go above a certain amount, demand will drop off, but they'll still be much more expensive than €100.

I got my confirmation at Date: Mon, 22 Aug 2011 23:51:29, so it must have been slightly earlier?

I got "no node available" after verifying my card details on expansys and (after holding for 20 mins) spoke to a customer services agent was told that my pre order has gone through. So don't lose hope if you get the same message.

    Same happened for me!

Did you ask them about the confirmation while you were talking to them?

I mean that if some individual has bought multiple tablets to try and sell them off at a profit later on ebay/adverts etc, I won't be buying from them. They're basically the same as ticket touts.

If someone bought more than they need (could easily happen with people making multiple orders to ensure they get one), and are selling them on at the price they paid, then I'd be happy to from them.

edit: and if you're willing to pay €200, that only encourages others to buy up all the stock, preventing you getting on for €99, so they can profit off you.
