Building a pc for college.

Well, as the title says i'm building a pc for college. I was accepted into the Computing in Games Development course in DKIT and i need a new PC for that. I want to build it from scratch too and i'd like if it was able to run some games at the highest setting like BF3 and Skyrim and the likes. So if anyone could help and list some parts that would make a pc good enough for my course that would be great! Thanks in advance for the help.

Could you give a budget? Also do you need Windows, monitor, or anything else? Or is it just the tower.

I would go with something like this:

Couple of notes: Thats the German version of windows, its cheaper than the English one but you need to download the English version from here and burn it to a DVD.

If you need a mouse/keyboard I left a bit of space in the budget for it. However don't get a keyboard from them as it will have a german layout.

If you are willing to stretch the budget a small bit I would recommend upping the motherboard and PSU so you could add a second 6950 for crossfire later on down the line:

to save money i would spend less on the case and get win 7 from software4students 45 euro and with the saving get a monitor with hdmi port

What would the benefits of crossfire be?
And about the windows, what is the download? Just a torrent of windows 7 english that i can use the product code on?

Everything else seems fine, i may decide to use my tv as the monitor to save a little money though. My tv is a syncmaster aswell. So thanks for the help

I was thinking of using my current tv as the monitor yeah.

Is softwareforstudents not only upgrades? Can i use them on a fresh install?

Crossfire is basically using 2 graphics cards at the same time. It will usually give you almost double the performance of a single card. It works out cheaper than buying a single card with the same performance as well.

The windows is a direct download of the ISO file. You just need to burn it to a DVD and use the license key you get from the German version.

You can use the softwareforstudents as a fresh install, just google how to

Do a fresh install with the upgrade disk which will end up being a 30 day trial, but you can install again over that and it will be the full version.

To both it's yes. I'm currently using a 3 year old mac. Need a better graphics card, cpu and a bigger hd. Not to mention, i want some games to play aswell. So new pc.

I meant needing the pc for the course. No harm in upgrading for the sake of it, however make no illusions that you have to upgrade for this course your are starting, what you have now would be fine.
Best of look with it anyway.

Oh okay. Well i do need a new computer regardless of the course, but i may aswell have it for the course too. Sorry if i seemed like i was snapping at you or anything.
