Parking Permit Information?

Ive only got around to applying for the parking permit last week. Applied for it on their website and havent got a reply yet.

Just wondering did I leave it too late? has any body else got their permits or are in the same boat?

I recently thought about this and looked up about it. Apparently the APCOA site is being updated: Quote from the NUIM Website:

"Due to the delays in the completion of the systems development on the APCOA website, NUI Maynooth permit application will not now be operational until later on in August.
A communication will be issued when the development works on the APCOA web site is completed".

Your welcome! We're not back till next month though - although I see your from Kilkenny - suppose you lot wouldn't be on the game leaving things too late

Actually if your a postgrad, have you any idea when we're back? Are we back earlier or later?

I think most postgrad courses start back the same day as undergrads - 19th of September

staff pay the same as students, 20 a semester, from what i can remember...

which works out at €1.66 a week, hardly expensive.

Not expensive but it's the principle. Also, just like the household charge, it won't stay at the "introductory" level for long.

Just remember kids -
1) the permits are just paper disks , photocopy a friends
2) its a private clamping company , if you can detach the clamp without damage or cut it off with nobody looking then they cant do anything to you

So go ahead , apcoa are cúnts, feel free to piss them off

Hopefully get a good campaign going to have these lowlifes ****ed off campus asap. Anyone who hears any nasty clamping related stories should make sure to share it with us.

I intend to cut any clamps that are put on my car any way, it wont be the first time ive done it and if it happens to me it wont be the last, they are scumbags.

Could probably buy a key online for their particular brand of clamp... become NUIM's Robin Hood, anti-clamping hero, go round taking them off people's cars. I mean if you just unlock the thing and leave it sitting there, undamaged, then they can't very well take you to court or anything, can they?

Agree. And I've no doubt security will take their side in issues like this. It even makes me sad to see all the signs around the campus now erected by that company that specifically state, "this is private property". Universities should be open to any member of the public, they should be the most public of places.

Judge ruled clamping illegal at WIT 18/1/2007
Judge William Harnett ruled at Waterford district court last week that WIT has no authority to clamp the Vehicles of people who park illegally at its cork road campus.

The case originated when a clamp was removed from a car by its owner on January 5th last year. The judge ruled that the owner was entitled to remove something that was stuck to his car by whatever means and if it damages his car, he was entitled to claim damages.

While there where notices up in the car park informing motorists that clamping was in operation, Judge Harnett ruled that there were no laws to support that notice before dismissing the case.

WITSU expects that WIT will seek legal clarification on this matter and that clamping will continue for now. WITSU welcomes the ruling that clamping is illegal, however does not encourage motorists to park in dangerous or unhelpful positions.

I think clamping on private property is on very dodgy legal grounds. I'm sure the USI have Ireland's top legal minds on it. Once they get back from some junket or another.

the lock used is a Cisa 285

No it's not too late. You will see a link on the college homepage to "Traffic Management and Parking". You will find the relevent links in there.
