    Hi,

Hoping someone can help me out.

I have an Audi B7 A4 which cut out on the motorway on me. Mechanic came took it away and says its the fuel injector is gone. Its a Siemens one.

Audi want €630 ex vat for a new one.

I have searched the internet and found just one, second hand in the UK for €500 inc shipping.

Does anyone know anywhere that may sell them? Is it a waste of time getting a secondhand one? Is there any alternatives.

Cant believe the price of them and i have to get one or no car :(

    Thanks guys

I think its a waste buying a used one. It could only last a week. Make sure you change the wiring loom as well when your at it.

If its a diesel injector there is a guy in portlaise that can fix them did four injectors on my merc for €400 and never gave a days trouble after that.

IIRC those injectors are a throw away job.

I would imagine so because the CR engine didnt appear until mid 08.

Give excel diesel a call, 01-4260552 (AD Dublin). The injectors need to be coded. They should be able to sort you a bit cheaper.

Don't think you have any options other than dealer.
There is nobody capable of repairing these, the piezo element shorts to the injector body.
There is no ima coding on these, there is the usual clearance setting though.

Thats true. I think the biggest culprit is the wiring loom that causes the short. I wonder would it be worth the gamble to change the loom even before injector failure??

I'll have to disagree with you on the loom causing the short, looms gave a lot of trouble in the 1.9pds but on these its within the injector body itself that shorts, I cant recall the 2 fault codes generated, ones a power relay....,
you can measure the resistance of each injector pin to the head and one will be close to 0 ohms. Once this is done the offending injector can be disconnected and the engine will start on 3.

Thats fair enough as you seem to know a lot more about them than me. Is their anyway of preventing the problem at all???

thanks guys. I might as well bite the bullet and buy the one from the garage. Cant find any online.

I like the sound of that place in portlaoise but sure i have no way to get there as my car wont move at all :/

Is it a big job to put one of these in? Ill say it to my mechanic about the wiring also.

Hope now the others don't go - you know what they say, once one thing goes its all down hill

Hi just want to update on above post.

So I got that fuel injector up the north when i originally wrote this. Paid the money and got it fitted. All good. Until a week ago when the same problem happened again!

I saw it was a common problem with these audi's and that there is new injectors which are modified and came out a few months ago... no problems with them.

So,I got really pissed off and I decided i am not going to pay again for another fuel injector and rang Audi Germany. They put me through to Audi Ireland, who said that I will have to pay for the injectors as its not a recall issue. (Even tho my car died on the motorway).

So I rang Audi UK (Its an import) who confirmed there is an issue with the injectors and even tho my car doesnt have an Audi Service history, is now an Irish registered car and is out of warranty, they said they will fix it!

Audi UK are fixing these in cars for free, yet Audi Ireland are not. (Audi Ireland didn't know my car was an import during the conversation, so its not a case of "ohh sure its a uk car")

So Audi UK towed my car to the north and replaced all 4 injectors for free! I am also getting a refund for the last injector i paid for! Saving me over €2500.

All I can say is what excellent service they provided!! And also THANK GOD I didn't buy my car here in Ireland off a dealer here, as i would have had to fork out for the cost of these injectors. and I wouldn't have been able to get Audi UK involved.

Audi UK contacted me back and basically ive to bring it to an Audi Dealer, foot the bill myself and they will then refund me, (send them the invoice etc) thats the only way they would do it.
