Any of those feckin' talent shows and reality shows, sketch comedy sh!te like Little Britain that spawns a hundred catch phrases, Lost. I rarely watch T.V, but any of that crap just drives me insane. I want to put Heroes, too, but I enjoyed up to the point where it became clear that the writers had no idea what was supposed to happen. You don't retcon a series after the first season.

EDIT: The Wire is without a doubt the greatest thing to ever grace the television screen. Even the episodes that weren't up to par with the rest were better than anything other show.

I still think the first season of Heroes was great. The writer's strike fairly shafted it after that, I never made it through the third season, the caracters constantly changing allegiances back and over got tiresome.

Im going to say The Wire.Ive watched the first 3 seasons in the last 4 weeks and am finding myself rather non plussed.

Now dont get me wrong, its a decent show but it just hasnt grabbed me like other HBO shows like Oz or The Sopranos.

Maybe its a case Ive been expecting too much from it but to this point,I have been let down by it.

I will reserve final judgement til I watch season 4 and 5 though.

Maybe it was partly because Jerry Seinfeld is an awful actor and his voice just irritates me but even still it was really really over-rated
It's a sitcom. Why would he even need the acting chops? Have you ever watched a sitcom and said 'Jaysus, that was some fine acting'?

I'm waiting for the thanks whores to say a globally popular show like two and a half men.

I don't care what anyone says, two and a half men is great smile.gif

EDIT: Already said, I think viewing figures and air time show it's not over rated.
I'm not sure you quite get what 'overrated' means

I'm going to say Arrested Development. Its quite good and alarmingly clever for an American sitcom but it isn't quite the masterpiece most would have you believe.

Non sitcom-wise I'd have to say Boardwalk Empire. An awfully stuffy, derivative show. Mad Men with gangsters.

Off topic I know, but Deadwood is probably one of the most underrated TV shows. In terms of popularity at least. You will not see better acting or production values in any other TV show. A flawed, incomplete masterpiece

*Waits for someone to say The Wire*

The Big Bang Theory is one that springs to mind. A bunch of hyper nerdy science men live next door to an attractive woman. A 21 minute (?) snappy joke making, laugh track using sitcom is born. A lot of people seem to like it but I honestly can't think why that would be.

Got to disagree on that. Both those shows have a warmth to them, as well as the comedy unlike 2 1/2 Men where the characters just seem to want to get in their next funny line/put down. Enter hot girl/exit hot girl and repeat.......Twice a day on Comedy Central ad nauseum, plus the weekend marathons in case you somehow missed the weekday barrage

The guy in KOQ over acts so much, it's just annoying watching. I'd still watch it mind.

Season 4 is my favourite, with 3 a close 2nd. Season 5 is the poorest one of the lot though imho, still brilliant really though. I've not watched Oz and only seen the first season of Sopranos yet, I found it very slow and uninvolving after The Wire, have every intention of watching the rest though.

:eek: Definitely not overrated in my opinion. I think this is one of the best-written and funniest geek/nerd comedies to come out of America

Don't think anyone else will agree with me here, but The Inbetweeners - Can't stand it!

    True Blood.

Watched every episode, usually because there's nothing else on. The first season was decent enough, nice lack of touchy feely nonsense.

But dear god, the last few seasons have just been boring, with obvious plot lines and twists.

    I agree completely.

All I got from 5 minutes of TBBT was that the lead character probably has aspergers syndrome. This is meant to mean that he is a fantastically funny guy on account of how odd he is

Anything with vampires in it. Vampires are supposed to kill people or turn them, not fuck them.

The Big Bang Theory is "Nerd comedy" for people who use Norton.

That's the trouble with comedy, it's a very personal thing and hard to judge outside your own preference. I get the odd laugh out of KOQ but don't frind Everybody Loves Raymond funny at all where as I consistently get the odd giggle out of 2 and a half men.

Gotta agree with the banning of anyone who says The Wire. Also, anyone who says The Sopranos deserves to be marched straight to the gallows.

I'll also second Two And A Half Men as being waaay overrated. Don't like The Big Bang Theory either. However, everyone has a different sense of humour, and there really is a sitcom for everyone. I hate these two shows, but I know plenty of people who hate Seinfeld, which I love. Humour is so different from person to person.

I'd also say Lost is terrible - impossible to follow, ridiculous storyline, too many under-developed characters and sub-plots, clearly made up episode-by-episode with no real plan, and just downright terrible writing in places. Don't really know why anyone stuck with it to the end.

    Dexter

Watched seven episodes of Season One and quit, did absolutely nothing for me despite all the hype

Lost, apparently, had the entire show pretty much written out before it became a massive hit, when the studios told the writers to make even more, completely ruining the story. I've heard from a few people that the original scripts would have made the show three seasons and would have been far better than what we ended up with.

Can't speak highly enough of The Wire. I can't see anything ever bettering it tbh.

Entourage and Shameless are two shows that all my friends seem to rave about but I just don't see the appeal at all.

I enjoyed parts of the first season of The Big Bang Theory, then I started watching Community and TBBT just started looking like crap in comparison.

I intend starting season 4 this week so will give it a fair crack.

I really cant praise Oz highly enough. It is,in my humble opinion the greatest television show of all time.Brilliantly acted, brilliantly written and incredibly intricate for a show that is set for probably 95% minimum within the walls of the prison.

I watched it through a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed it, especially the first few seasons but I think it ran out of ideas quickly and it just seemed to get dafter by the episode. I would place it behind The Wire, Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

Also, half the Wire is knocking about on it. Herc, Carver, Daniels, Carcetti's aide, Rawls, Bodie, Cheese and probably more :D
