That's where I think it all came from.

Thats sort of my point tho... they dont dominate close range... far from it... Actually you know what.. i challenge you to go onto MW2 and play 5 games with any of the SMG's/AR's or Shotguns and rush about.. then once you're finished those 5 games choose a sniper class and play agressively again. Record your scores and let me know how you get on, maybe even do a youtube series on it ? I'd do it but after getting shanked by noobtubers yesterday i don't think i could play 5 games in a row :P

They've said they want to bring sniping back in line with how it was in CoD4, which to me sounds spot on. Its still gonna be one of the weakest classes but it'll be better than blops.

I can understand how people would get frustrated by a lobby full of snipers in SnD doing 360's and stuff, but personally i've rarely seen it. Maybe its more common now with black ops pushing away the sniping "Community" tho. The only reason i jumped on MW2 yesterday was to do some sniping, so i guess lots of other people do the same.

I Prefer the way it is now in blops.. Sniper rifles are harder to use!! and its the way it should be.. I dont mind at all being sniped by some chap in a window or whatever.. coz that is sniping!! Its that style of gameplay! QS hasnt infected blops the way it has MW2

Realism is just something you shouldn't expect from CoD. If you get upset about that then surely being able to shoot in a completely straight line across any length of map with an AR/SMG also pisses you off ? Because.. you know.. thats not possible IRL either. Or when you shoot someone in the leg with a .50 cal they can still run around like a "madman"... whereas in realife it'd blow their leg off. If the snipers were truely one hit kill weapons then i'd agree that being able to use them up close (Even if they are still much weaker than any other weapon at that range) would be ridiculous.

If people insist on snipers being "Realistic" then you have to have that same level of realism across the board.

<facepalm> here we go again with the same broken argument you throw up just at different forum members ALL the time...

There are levels of fiction and unrealistic behavious one should expect from a FPS that are a necessary evil in order to maintain an ejoyable game balance . For instance in real life if your shot in the leg your most likely not able to move and will bleed out / die if not tended to... if this was in game the mechanic for every single game would be utterly broken and unplayable.

Quickscoping however is not necessary in order to maintain game balance. A sniper with slow draw and reload time is still effective as a sniper however being able to draw your sniper too quickly is NOT needed for a SNIPER (Note- quickscopers are not snipers, they are simply players who loose firefights and as a result retort to one hit kill guns to avoid their lack of skill in firefights)

A good sniper is patcient and skilled in the art of stealth and observation, they can be effective accross a map and do not need to reload quickly or draw quickly as they predict enemy movement so are pre set up for a draw of their weapon.

In most cases quick scopers ether loose massive amounts of points for the enemy team or your own team hence ruining the game balance.

From this we see ....
- quickscopers are not snipers
- their perks are not needed in any way to be an effective sniper
- their perks are not needed in order to maintain game balance
- In fact quick scopers ruin game balance

what do you mean favourite servers? does the game not pick a random host each match...

how would go about setting up a black ops server?
