I know roughly about al jazeera sports viewing card but need information in a bit more detail.

You need a satalite dish 80cm i read, can it be any type of dish, a reciever, then obviously the card. If you use a visccess card will you need a CAM?

One website i saw was TECHDIGITAL, as anyone used this before?
Advice on what products to purchase and how well it works for you would be good.

Satalite on HOTBIRD 13 East? What is exactly is hotbird and which one should i use between HOTBIRD, NILESAT etc.

Suggest you have a read through this thread.. This covers information on dishes, receivers etc.

Forget about Nilesat unless you can put up (and afford!) an absolutely huge dish. Hotbird is receivable on smaller dishes in Ireland. 80 cm should be fine.

Lots of receivers have a card reader built in, which means you won't need a separate cam.

    Techdigital are an ok company.

What football are you after btw?

Do you have a dish at present for freesat/sky?

According to this site, 80cm should still be fine in Glasgow.

No premier league on Al Jazeera. They do have scottish football and the others you mentioned.

Suppose you'll be going with a two dish set up so..leaving up the sky dish, with a separate one pointing to Hotbird?

Other options would be multi lnb dish, which could combine the freesat channels on astra with the hotbird channels, including your Al jazeera. Or a motorised dish.

Pointing to hotbird means hotbird 13 east?
Its just the direction it is called?

Hotbird is the name of the satellite and 13 east refers to the direction, as you said. Similarly Sky is on astra 28 east.

You could also get a Linux based receiver(dreambox, openbox etc) and down load a softcam, which means you don't need to physically have a cam in the dreambox. Also many other things you can do with a DB kinda like apps for a phone and such. And stuff that this forum does not allow us to talk about due to legal reasons.

I'd also recommend tring plus card on 16e . Though I think you would need a metre or bigger dish. More expensive than all jazzera. Shows all EPL games.

Hi bud I'm from just outside Glasgow myself & if your trying to keep thing on a super tight budget you can use a Zone 2 $ky dish with a universal LNB mod for the reception of Hotbird.;) I had this setup for about a year as a intrim setup.
