Whatever Norris may of done or is alleged to of done it is nothing compared to not allowing the public to vote for their clear favourite. That is the real crime.

Yet again we have an elite dictating to us.
He aint the clear favorite no more.

Norris was toast from day one because this is a Catholic anti homosexual country. Even though times are changing, they haven't changed yet. Wouldn't be surprised if the Vatican funded this hate campaign

I think you will find you are slightly out of touch with the reality in this country.

He was toast from day one because of the skeletons in his closet.

EDIT: It wasn't to long ago that Trevor Sergant had to resign over a letter to a Garda in relation to public order. The crime in this case is much worse yet some people still bring out the homophobic card.

You may notice his last boards poll was 60% would vote for him, after the revelations the new poll is running 60% wouldn't vote for him. 25% in a poll ( and a pre letter one at that ) is hardly a resounding endorsement from the electorate. So I don't think he is now considered the front runner by anyone ( except possibly himself going by the egotistical view of himself he put into that letter of clemency )

Well I would like to see another Liveline poll. An online politics forum is hardly representative of the general electorate.

Indeed, being stopped by the gardai whilst kerb crawling in the Phoenix park, in the ninties did not end the career of one former Junior Minister.

Former Trinity Professor and now Senator, Mr Norris is part of the elite !

The 'trap' relates to the manner of his arrest and not to the crime for which he was convicted.

But he isn't preventing democracy. Even if Norris support falls in the various polls he will still have enough support to be allowed into the election.

But the elite, who control who we are allowed to vote for, will stop him.

I feel am I right. The younger generations are more open to the notion, but I know very few people over the age of 50 that still think they're 'evil'. those that had the church's techings beaten into them. I would include my own parents in that bracket

So would I, beacuse thats a hell of a swing on an online forum, one which is renowned for not following the dogged path of the political norm, so imagine how much he has sailed downward amongst the ordinary voters of this country.

Problem is if Norris gets in somebody will release another juicy titbit about him, and he would probably end up having to walk.

And this country is already a shambolic clusterf**k as it is.

Fact#1: His boyfriend sodomized a 15 year old boy

Fact#2: He continued to be 'close friends' with this pederast despite having full knowledge of his appetite for children

Fact#3: The Vatican could very easily point out how hypocritical the Irish were for electing such a man president while at the same time accusing them of not caring about children who were sexual abused

You hoesntly don't think there is any difference between consentual sex and phyiscally forcing someone to have sex with you?

When one is underage, theres very little difference, one is by physical force, the other is usually achieved through emotional abuse.

If the person is 15 the answer is no.

This State has a poor track record on the rights of the Child. Let's elect Norris to keep this great tradition alive.
Oh to have standards in public office.

but in a few months time he was now immune to emotional abuse?

Max Clifford turning up would be the icing on this cake.

Are you bothered with the Catholic Church running most of our primary schools given their record on child abuse and covering it up?

I am beginning to think that David Norris has formed a secret cult.

Do you even understand what the word ' democracy' means - go away and read the constitution - it is quite small.

Were not talking about that I am bothered by a grown man condoning another man who raped a young teen in palestine, the emotional scars that were left on the victim will last decades and this is a man who wants to represent our country.
I have no problem with him batting for the other team but its his attitude to this incident that bothers me.

I dont think that a fifteen year old boy can give an informed conset to anal sex with a 30 year old man and it most certainly would be an offence in this country.

No, but he is then legal age, he is certainly still vulnerable to emotional abuse ( as in any adult in a relationship, see the amount of wives who stay with husbands who beat them regularly ) but in the eyes of the law he can make a considered decision on his own. A lot of countries do enshrine in law that there be a small differential in age between a young person above legal age and someone they are having consensual sex with purely because they are aware that there can be emotional pressure placed upon the young person by a much older predatory adult.
