Really struggling with the pointlesness and futility of everything. Nothing is worth doing and its very difficult to motivate myself to do anything if nothing has meaning and is ultimately pointless and joyless.

I am strugling for motivation and I really want to find it to get myself going again but I cannot escape the reality and futility that overwhelms me. Just thinking positively is not enough because their is always this emptiness seeping through.

I am just wondering has anyone any tips or advice on how I can find the motivation to enjoy life and find meaning to get up in the morning?

Nope. Not pointless. Painful, heartbreaking and tough but not pointless. You are a beautiful expression of nature and you have as much right to be here as the birds and the trees.

If the big stuff is bothering you then focus on the small stuff. Making a cup of tea? Make it your best cup of tea ever. The japanese made tea making into an artform. Pointless? Well maybe but not when you accept that you have a right to be here.

Try self help. Try exercise. Try music, try dance, try running, writing, meditation, art. Trying climbing a mountain. When you've done all that - I'll give you ten years - then come back and tell us whether it's pointless or not.

The best life possible (imo) is 50/50 pleasure/pain. Own your pleasure and your pain. Think you can't go on? Make a cup of tea...
