I can see it now, some dick working out the angles, starts a match...boomff... tubes a smoke grenade into the opposing spawn...mayhem ensues.

Would be something to keep the inevitable MW3 bitching thread alive though.

MW2+ scavenger+ smg+ smoke nads on small maps.... major lolz.
Its basically the ability to kill a part of the mp when ever you get a kill. Rust is especially funny to see , looks like downtown tokyo on a bad day with some games.

Really throws the snipers for 6. At least run / gunners can work around it and keep the ADS up while moving through the smoke. :D

Really? When was the last some one complained about Willy Petes/ Smoke 'Nades.

There's a limited throw distance on them so it would be hard to launch it into a spawn at the start of a match, a launched smoke grenade would presumably go as far as the current launched frags and it's not beyond comprehension that people would misuse it.

There are plenty of great new ideas for MW3 but the fact is you have to consider the lowest common denominator in COD; the player that will abuse anything just to get a kill, they abuse ghost/motion sensors, OMA/DC, Javelin glitches, you could give them something that would be cool to the average player and they'll find a way to piss people off with it.

With the popularity of the series right now and with past history of the community being pissed off by at least one perk/gun/map etc. in every game, the creators need to consider not only how something can be used but how it could be misused.

Exactly, don't think he would :)

I meant they're not deleted automatically

How would smoke in your spawn at the start of a match be a problem? A launchable stun grenade followed by normal grenades, now that would be a b1tch.

Of course people will use anything to get them kills, or even ahead in any aspect. It is just that the concept of launched smoke screens is hard abuse. Any mistreatment can be nerfed in not eliminated through tweaking of their advantages and the imposing of stock and usage limitations. I would find it difficult to see significant abuse arising from their use if they had the limitations I described earlier, and possibly by only giving one smoke per spawn (for connection reasons).

Team 1 fires smoke into team 2's spawn, T1 proceeeds to ADS at the smoke waiting for T2 to emerge. More of a problem on small maps than large

This is all hypothetical, we don't know if it would be a problem or not, chances are it won't be, it might not even be in the game, though it's better to consider all possibilities, IW obviously didn't consider OMA/DC would be abused but it was.

Easily dealt with by using the grenade launcher delay but this is just at the start of a match. I cant think of anywhere during a match where it would be better than a normal smoke grenade unless maybe they had regular smokes and tube smokes which wouldnt be balanced.

Maybe a camper or two hanging back launching smokes while the rest of the team pushed on could be abused slightly.

Im not arguing for the use of them btw, this is just what popped into my head when I saw these posts.

People may call me a moron for this, I would like to see smoke Noob Tubes, many games have a grenade launcher where the round doesn't explode, it releases a large smoke screen, this can be very tactical and helpful to team mates, also some challenges can be included like "Get 25 rescue medals while the Smoke M320 is equipped"

I dont think its a bad idea.. As long as there is a delay for any tubes or grenades to be active in a game. But at the same time, smoke grenades on their own are enough.

I do think it would be hilarious if a full 6man party all had smoke grenades and smoke grenade lanchers and they were all let loose at the same time on nuketown! would be epic!!

Bad Company 2 has them, and I have to say I never found them useful. Ever.

Their main use in BF2 I found was that if you deployed a smoke screen then the red tag that would appear above your head when spotted would disappear.. It would help you hide from snipers as a counter from auto-spot

Smoke nades isnt a bad idea, my only problem with it would be that people have far too much equipment already. In one warlord setup you could have a smoke nade + 3 Flashes + Claymore + 2 Grenade.... which is insane imo... basically turning you into a one man army.

MGS Games never held my interest. And I wouldn't buy a PS3. I would sell a free one if it was given to me. Thats how deep my hatred of Sony goes.

Lets not start this again, doesn't the PS3 have better graphics than the xbox?!

Anyway, these are beta leaked pictures, I wouldn't be expecting HD quality photos

No, that is a picture which just has global illumination without any shaders or lighting on ;) The shadows seem to be baked on in the first pictrure and the post processing, lighting and shadows are only switched on in the second :P

I really don't see why there is soo much bloom on the lights when it is still sunny out in the picture...

I had both MW2 on ps3 and xbox and Blops on both and they both looks better on the xbox, brighter, textures are better, colours are stronger. Thats probably more to do with the seksbox being the lead development console though. Theres barely any noticable difference between a lot of ports though, sometimes the xbox gets the better one, like Bayonetta, and sometimes the ps3, like FFXIII.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭Magill

Yeah it just depends which console is lead platform (Nothing to do with game genre :P). MW2 runs fine on PS3 and at this stage blops is fine(Has been for a long time). Apparently there is no lead platform for MW3, they're being developed side by side, so no shoddy ports like the PC/PS3 release versions of blops. Likewise with BF3, PC being the lead platform will probably lead to both console versions being very similar.. (Although rumours atm are that the xbox version is having some problems)

Not on some of the maps. It's still nowhere near the buttery smoothness I experienced on mw2 and Blops on xbox for that matter.. Maybe it's just my ps3 !
