Looking at that draw I think Hilton can cause an upset against Taylor.
Not too many games that stand out in the draw. Lloyd and Henderson could be a good game as could Wade and Caven.

I hope Big Hendo and Dave Chisnall have a good tournament. Hylton in good form at the moment and won't fear playing Taylor. Barney has a potential banana skin against Steve Brown.

Mark Webster v John Part has the potential to be a cracker of a game.

Depends on which players turn up. Both can play great darts when in the mood, just hope both are up for it.

Unfortunately Willie didn't earn enough to qualify via the players championship rankings. He was going well for a lot of the year but the past month or 2 he had some poor results and a bit of bad luck along the way. However he's still in position to qualify for the World Championships in Ally Pally come December so let's hope he can win a place there.

Well the wait is almost over and later this evening the World Matchplay will get under way. Hard to call who'll win this but I think Adrian Lewis can win it out provided he'll get over his 1st round game tomorrow night against Kevin Painter who'll be a very tough opponent for Lewis.

I'll go for Beaton,Van Der Voort,Lewis and Part to win tonight's games.

I think Nicholson(33/1) & Part(66/1) are good outside bets for the tournament. Worth an each way bet anyway. Cant believe Newton still being offered at 50/1 after making finals of uk open

Anyone know what way the draw is split(each 1/2)?

Lewis gets out of jail winning a tiebreaker 14-12. Painter will be kicking himself,he left a golden opportunity of beating Lewis go.

Well done to John Part,a gentleman of the oche and IMO a legend of the game,a 3 times World champion.

Result; Webster 10 Part 8. While Part deserves great praise for his 9 darter equally Webster deserves congratulations for winning the contest. 4 great games tonight were held.

for any gamblers keep an eye out for "any other" correct score bets in the matchplay. Basically it means if goes to play off, and there are so many close looking games, especially going into 2nd, 3rd rounds, etc.

If you think its a close looking match bet on both to win by any other score, least odds I've seen(out of 3 bets Ive done on this so far) was Nicholson at 15/2.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭dartbhoy

Results so far tonight; Nicholson 12 Osborne 10,Walsh 10 Chisnall 3,Wade 10 Caven 0. Barneveld v Brown currently playing.

I've no idea why Nicholson's chances of winning are being talked up so much. He's not gonna win this, there's more chance of the crowd chanting his name.

My money's on Anderson, if he's finding the double he's gonna be very difficult to stop considering how phenomenal his scoring is.

Results so far from tonight; Wayne Jones 10 Scott Rand 6,Mervyn King 6 Justin Pipe 10. King has really gone off the boil in the past 12 months or so,is it the end of King as a major force in darts?

Couple player championship wins this year. Good run(inc beating Taylor) in UK Open and although I didn't see it I heard he was bit unlucky when he went out

He's got a good a chance as a lot of players of making it to later stages and who knows what happens from there...worth 33/1 that he was at start of tournament

Brave effort there by Mark Hylton against Taylor,he brought it back to 9-8 from 9-5 down but alas Taylor won the next leg and match 10-8.

I don't think it was a case of luck when he went out, Wade was just better - beating Taylor doesn't seem the achievement it was this time last year either.

I think Barney will do him on Wednesday.
