It varies by uni. I can dig out my transcripts if you like. I know a 3.6 was converted to a 67 in my case anyway.

I think I have the same grade, so that's good. If you had the transcripts to had that would be great.

Yes; it goes down from 4 with varying decimal attachments. A 4.0 is the highest you can get (A) then it descends from there.

    Hi there,
I was wondering if you might now what a 2.2 degree from trinity college dublin would equate to in the U.S. GPA scale. I am applying to colleges in new york which require a 3.0..not sure if my 2.2 will be enough.

    Thanks in advance,
    Roisin

It depends, in UCD anyway, a 2.2 is GPA range of 2.49-3.07
So if its a very high 2.2 maybe?I think in other colleges a 3.0 is a 2.1... ask your college?

What would a first class honours be? Roughly 3.8-4.0?

    I'd say so, a 3.69 is a high 2:1 (trust me ;))

For anyone interested I can't locate the conversion sheet I had so apologies for that!

UCD is different to American college. A 1.1 in UCD is 3.68-4.2 and the following

From 3.08 to 3.67 inclusive Second Class Honours, Grade 1
From 2.48 to 3.07 inclusive Second Class Honours, Grade 2
From 2.00 to 2.47 inclusive Pass

Other details re what each individual grade translates into can be found here

This info is only for UCD mind.
