I really don't understand why they changed those two roads back now. Sure it's only doing the same job just we are going up and down in different directions.

Whats the eek for? It is in essence just doing that instead of going around those streets clockwise we are now going anticlockwise. No difference.

There is a huge differnce, the old one way system on O'Rahilly Street was pointless it led nowhere, only back to where you started, now that it is reversed it takes traffic away from Tolan Street. You also have the option of left or right turn on Hill Street and Casement Street is two way, it is a massive improvement on the old system

The new traffic calming measures at the corner of circular road and marian crescent are a welcome addition to the makeshift, teenie round about that's there. Pedistrains can now walk safely across the road as they have widened the foot paths and put in an island in the road.

Can be a bit scary for walkers there as even the roundabout is not the best for cars. With a junction like this it's difficult to be alert to pedistrians as well as traffic.

Well done to the TC (or maybe a councillor would like to take credit?).

This has come up previous on the thread regarding an accident or emergency in the town centre and the effect it would have on traffic.

That became a reality yesterday when there was an accident in the town centre. Luckily there was nobody too badly injured despite the glass and shock of it all.

The traffic chaos that ensued was horrendous. All because of the one way system and the council's brainchild idea of channeling traffic around the town. This also meant access for emergency services was difficult and fortunately it wasn't a serious fire.

All roads in and outside of the town were laden with cars and trucks stuck in traffic. Apparently it took an hour to get from the Foxford road to the Killala road.

Was the accident on Bridge Street?
