Clare minor hurlers are now 6/4 favourites to win the All-Ireland. Hope all the hype around them doesnt go to there heads.

Just back from the football match, ooooooh mammy how close was that? If the hurlers could but in as much heart/commitment as the footballers did we'd be All Ireland champions, hard luck the footballers, hardest draw possible and you could have done it

Jeez Clareman fairplay to you for going. You're some man to head to the Banner matches. Ye gave Down hell and on the Radio Martin Kiely was saying ye had a goal there at the end and I nearly crashed the car with the shock but alas. What's this about a two tier championship again?:D:D There's footballers in Clare in fairness.

I would guess that there wasnt much more than 150 clare supporters in cusack park today, absolutely gutted for the Clare lads.

Looking forward to seeing the goal line clearance, must have been very, very close:(

there were 2 lads representing junior clubs who started for clare and 2 intermediate players started @ midfield,Declan callinan made a huge difference when he came on,How on earth this Down team reached the AI is beyond me.

Got a lucky draw to play Sligo in the qualifiers. Got a few decisions against Kerry and their keeper performed some heroics. A square ball against Kildare that changed the game. That's how they got to the final last year.

Jaysus User if you thought that was 150 supporters, any chance of a loan of 150 yoyos? I would say there were more Down supporters than Clare supporters, but there was still a good turn out.

And Browney, sport is 1 of my few vices, Mrs. Clareman understands :)

Munster minor hurling final has the potential to be a classic this year. Bring it!

Looking forward to it already, ignoring a couple of big defeats (lady footballers, senior hurlers) it hasn't been a bad year so far, minor hurlers, camoige, junior hurlers, under 21s.

I would estimate the crowd was around 8/900 and most of them were Down supporters.

I was on the far side (the standing stand :D), the stand looked full to me as well as a good crowd around the side, if there were 2938 the night before, there was the same today, maybe less.

Looks like it'll be a good match up between ourselves and yerselves for the Munster minor title, I have to say it's great to see counties like Waterford and Clare involved in these stages of the competition, hurling needs it. With no disrespect to Tipp and Cork, it's good to see a change from the status quo and see other counties involved in the run-in for silverware.
I trust ye'll back us for the senior game with yer own county man leading us! :pac:

Wow, Tipp vs Waterford, that a tough 1 to decide who to cheer for, I think I'll just sit back and say nothing

Is there still a bit of bad blood between Clare and Waterford after the 1998 saga Clareman? I always remember a few of my buddies from Clare making a few smart comments about how they love Waterford ha:D

I don't know if I'd call it bad blood, I don't think we're good enough anymore to have bad blood with anyone :)

Told this story by a Tipp man himself and a friend were coming out of a Gaa ground after a league game involving Tipp and Cork the year after Loughnane finished with Clare who was walking beside them only the bould man himself when one of the lads said to him Hello Ger Loughnane ex Clare manager what did you think of that game, as quick as a flash he replied "two bad teams one bad game".Another story a friend of mine was collecting for Lismore Gaa when Ger passed him by without seeing him, my friend called after him "Ger will you support Lismore hurling" he turned back and put his hand in his pocket and pulled out notes and coins I'd say everything he had on him and stuffed it in the collection box saying of course I will I'm a hurling man. I'm very sorry to hear of his illness I hope he makes a full recovery. Its a tough battle but there is another side to it. From a Waterford fan to a legend I will pray for him.

He is a true Clare hurling legend, lets hope they caught it early.

    Dont forget the intermediates.

Oops, I meant intermediates when I said Juniors. The Junior all Ireland of 93 was the kick start of a lot of the success for Clare in the 90s, Conor Clancy and Liam Doyle were on the team, I think there may have been a few more on the subs. I'll never forget that day, Mick Doyle was just behind my father and I, DJ Carey put on an exhibition of hurling in the replay of the Leinster final against Wexford in the main match.

What do ye Clare lads think about the game on Saturday?

If Clare can play as they did against Tipp ye should win. Galway were terrible against Dublin though we surely won't be that bad again. But it's impossible to know what Gslway team will turn up.

PS hard luck to your footballers, gave Down a right battle by the sounds of it.

To be honest, I think it all depends on the Galway team that turns up, it could be a repeat of 2 years ago.

The footballers were very unlucky, a bit more confidence as well as composure when they went level and they would have won it, they were unlucky as well to get the draw they did, I don't know if many teams would gotten through after been drawn against both last years All Ireland finalists.

I think Clare have a good chance Sunday. Although it's a bit of a disadvantage that we don't have Glynn or Honan :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Best wishes to Ger Loughnane and hopefully he gets better and is able to watch our minors win the Munster & All Ireland glory and also Munster intermediate champions. Another Clare hurling stalwart in Fr. Harry Bohan is also in hospital so hopefully he pulls through aswell.

Big blow that Honan is out injured for Saturday. He may not make everyone happy with his overall demeanor on the field but he carries a threat any time he gets the ball.

Well done to the County Camogie u18 team who beat Kilkenny last night 1-8 to 9 points in the All Ireland quarter-final! Great performance from all! And best of luck to the County Camogie u16 team who will play Limerick in the Munster semi-final this Saturday 2nd of July! Can everyone available please come out to support in Killmalock at 12.30 this is a team with great potential who would greatly deserve all the support out there!

What time is advisable for leaving Ennis for the match Saturday.Ive heard traffic can be chronic in Galway. And where to park??Tks in advance.

does any one have an idea when the first round of this is due to start?

and does anyone else think that july is extremely late to be starting a round robin format championship in ‘’weaker’’ football county, just as people are about to plan holidays etc

its no wonder clare football is going no where, not to mention the 10 week break between 1st round of senior games and 2nd round of senior games. Bloody madness!!

If I was travelling to Galway tomorrow (I've a wedding to go to :() I would be looking to leave around 5ish and getting a bite to eat in Salthill before going to the match. If I was going straight to the game I guess around 5.30 would be plenty of time to be sure of a good spot.

In regards to the football, didn't the county management ask that the county championship be put on hold why they were in they were still in the main competition? I think end of July is fair enough considering that you'll have the best pitches available, I'm looking forward to taking in a few games while making a day trip of it.

Might leave at 4.30 and get some liquid refreshment in beforehand:D.(Im not driving btw)Joe o muircheartaigh was pretty scathing of the West Clare crowd for their complete lack of support for the footballers. No doubt if they had beaten Down theyd all say they were one of the few in Cusack Park;).
