Air cannister, planes

    Something tells me the above dont mix.............can I take CO2 cannisters on board a Ryanair flight, either in cabin or hold luggage, or neither, or both?

    I've had a search...but not turned up an answer.

    Throw it in your hand luggage.
    Pressure drop in the luggage hold is only a tiny fraction of the rated pressure of the cartidge so verrrrrrry unlikely to go pop.
    Even in the highly unlikely event of it popping it would do little more than leave a small suspicious stain on your jocks.

    I've carried some very suspicious looking equipment on flights around the world. Only had to open bag for detaled search twice to explain myself (in Eindhoven and Tel Aviv). Never out of Dublin.

    Last October travelling to the Roc D'Azur in France we were allowed to bring 2 canisters each packed in our bike bags. The guys at oversize luggage actually asked whether we were bringing any when we handed over our bikes. No problem bringing a couple in my main luggage last weekend either to Faro!

    I tried to bring two in my bikebag last year to Nice , baggae handlers or security open the bag and trashed the contents to find them. They put a note into my bag telling me that they had the powers to search and remove such objects . Their repackaging skills leave a lot to be desired!!!

    They are the very same canister (with the very same thread and pressure) as the co2 canisters that activate the emergency flotation devices that you put over your head on an aircraft in the event of an emergency,

    So that's the answer then - nick the flotation device and you don't need to worry about getting your cannisters through security:D

    Seriously though, even if they are "safe", that does not mean they will be allowed through security checks, as some of the experiences relayed in the earlier thread testify

    They are only allowed to be used for a very short time, and are disguarded after a very short time, I have to check but it may be as short as 45 days but could be a little more defiantly not as long as six months, so they very well may be pumping wheels or powering the airsoft guys

    Isn't all oversize baggage xray'd?
    Surprized to hear of normal hold luggage being screened.
