ATA Problems

    I have VOIP with Ripplecom which usually works pretty well. However I have a problem which is becoming pretty annoying. The ATA device supplied by Ripplecom is a Grandstream HT-502 with 2 telephone ports. I connect my phone to one port and it works for a while but then stops ringing on incoming calls. I switch to the other port where it works for a while and then stops. This is repeated over and over. Any idea of why this is happening and how I can stop it? I can get around it by connecting a phone to each port but this is not ideal.

    Try reducing the time between registrations on the ATA. If the registration on the provider side times out before the ATA re-registers then any calls coming in before the ATA re-registers will go straight to voicemail.

    what way is your broadband router configured? It may be disconnecting the external>internal forward (usually on port 5060) so that the ATA is reachable externally.

    Does the ATA support UPnP? If so, switch it on, and switch UPnP on at the router end.

    Also, see if you can switch STUN on in the ATA, to attempt to keep the translation external>internal live...
