Do returning Aussie Rules players help Gaelic Games ?

    Down's Martin Clarke is set to return to Aussie Rules football later this year and rejoin AFL side Collingwood in a deal reported to be worth Aussie $250,000 per season. He decided to return home and played a role in Down reaching last year’s All-Ireland final where they lost to Cork.

    I'm not saying that he was the primary reason for Down getting to the All Ireland or anything like it, but surely a returning professional player could be of great benefit and insight, in particuliar to the fitness of teams ?

    Good point Tadhg Kennelly played a big role for Kerry when they won in 09, in the final he ran Canty (who would be considered one of the fittest GAA players) into the ground and was the fittest player on the feild when he was taken off

    It would defintaly raise the standard of fitness for players in his squad. Also it would make opponents know that if they were to play against an ex-Aussie Rules player, they would have to be fitter (maybe) to mark him than a player who only ever played GAA.

    The only problem I see is if they come back and then leave again. I know its their own choice but it does a leave a vacuum when they leave again.
