Bent rear wheel

I had my bike locked in town recently and when I came back to it and cycled off, I noticed that the bike was rubbing off the brake. Close inspection showed that the wheel was bent. It wobbles a bit when spinning.

It seems like someone gave it a kick or was messing with it somehow. I'm not to concerned about how it happened but I'm wondering if bending it back is an option. I'll get a new wheel if I can't fix it but I'd like to know from some of you here if this can be fixed with brute force.

Don't use brute force - take it to your LBS - they should be able to true by adjusting the spokes

Unless the actual rim itself is kinked or dented then any reasonable bend should be possible to straighten by tensioning the spokes. It's a relatively simple process but does require some practice therefore perhaps better bringing it to your lbs.
