Saddle Seatpost Stuck in Frame

Been years since i had a cycle so yesterday decided to dust off the old mountain bike with the view to taking her out next week sometime. The saddle needed changing so bought a new one.
When i fixed it to the seatpost its higher than my previous saddle and needs to be dropped. The problem i have is the seatpost is stuck in the frame and there is no movement on it at all. I sprayed some WD40 on it and tried again this morning with no luck.
Is there anything i can do that will release the stem from the frame? Any advice would be appreciated.

    I think you mean seatpost?

I presume that both seatpost and frame are metal?

Douse it in ATF fluid, that stuff will penetrate most places and lubricate as well, much better than WD40
