oh no doubt, when i first seen it i thought it was part of a larger battle and it was literally bringing those lads to the battle. but yeah this is still pretty cool :)

Well, they're wrong about its designation (there is no FV423) and that's a shocking waste of potential, but at least everyone gets a quick go in it I suppose. I really hope they run proper games that use it as well.

I won't be excited about such things until rules are laid out in games where vehicles are used that hits from a proper AT device (RPG, LAW etc). That way, they're stoppable (not just a thundering great perma-shield) AND we get a valid excuse for me to use even more launchers and mines.

Anybody know anything about the BAVS system they use in Berget? Their rules say this:
The AT-weapons is build upon a IR-cryptated system Kind of the same as the military SIMFIRE uses. They can shoot up to 60 meters in daylight and even further at night.

All vehicles ingame will be mounted with the BAVS 2.0 IR system (Berget anti vehicle system) this can be bought or rented from Berget.

They use game-owned AT4s and RPG-7s, and this year are introducing grenade launcher rounds too that work in an ordinary airsoft grenade launcher.

I haven't seen their system, but the concept is simple enough. It's been around for decades in various forms. It's not massively dissimilar to an overpowered version of the remote control for your TV.
I could put an operable one together in a fairly short space of time, the only thing stopping me is a complete lack of need for it.

Basically there are these massive launcher thing that look EXACTLY like rpgs etc.

When you fire it off, if you connect a hit a light on the dashboard goes off so that the driver knows he just got brapped.

I remember one of the sections in our platoon was giving one, but your man was a mong and never used it. Was also in a jeep that got stung by one and I felt very much ****ty by saying

"Erm, is there something wrong with the engine?"

    "Yeah, it just exploded"

    "What?"

    *Driver applies his hit-cap*

    "Bollox"

its an FV432 :P yeah they gaffed that a bit.

my old site used one of those for deployments IN game. Tbh, its a bit crap, For an urban site, it was a bit unhelpful. (yes 22 acre urban airsoft)
Problem was, you open the rear door, and everyones nailed as they exit...

I figured as much; in that case, they're also presumably wrong about it being a command vehicle.

thats an infantry carrier variant, the command one is similar to the ambulance variant, (boxier rear) just with less medics, and more tea.

Making up our own blurbs takes time. Time is money.
We'd have to pass the cost on to you, so everytime you read that phrase, just remember - we just saved you 89 cents.

What to transport the spar breakfast rolls for the entire station? :P

I like chinooks. They sound very distinctive.. a 'wook wook wook wook' sound that sounds like a lift. Pity the buggers fall out of the sky like phesant recently cured of acute lead deficiency by bird shot.

Jaysus, didn't know that was possible. Wish there were some of those bad boys scooting around above us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

and that was hovering at 8,500 feet :P Rather impressive task. Those can lift more, but not at that altitude.

Going back to the if you won the lotto thread, would there be any trouble importing one if it was without armament?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Most MIL 26s arent armed, a lot in civilian use.

if you mean chinook? no. Not a prayer. They arent allowed in ROI airspace (apart from septics because the govt want a few bob off them)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

You're kidding right, course I meant the "HIND" :p

Slightly more partial to the 24s than the 26s but not that much.

Out of interest, what is about chinooks that has them banned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

mi26 is the Halo, not hind :P

And chinnys are banned , because they go down about as easily as a hen do in temple bar.
