    Some pictures.

Never knew the Scottish were so against her visiting Ireland...

The irony of protesting the Queen's visit while wearing a British football jersey.

Give it a rest. I find the "let's forget the past despite part of Ireland remaining under British occupation" brigade to be infinitely more embarrassing.

I dont see why we should be held hostage by the past. We shouldnt forget but we shouldnt let it ruin our future either. It shows a deep sense of insecurity to be so bitter and petty. I'd rather see my country stand as an equal to Britian rather than a jealous underling that still clings to the bitter past.

im actually ashamed of my fellow irish men after watching this video. what a pack of ****ing idiots

There's idiots in every country. This is just an example of the idiocy of Nationalism as an ideology. It's not a problem specific to Ireland, you can see this in lots of countries.

So no need to feel ashamed

Why does Skynews have to concentrate on the negative news all the time and not the positive and broader historical aspects of the visit? Big deal, a couple of idiots decided to cause a small bit of trouble but their opinions are not the opinions held by a majority of Irish people and their actions shouldn't derange the coverage of the event.

I have to say that RTÉ's coverage was actually quite good, in that it focused on the positive not the negative - pity some international news agencies don't look at things from the same perspective.

I'm also so sick of Éirígí at this stage. They've hijacked many large and meaningful protests over the past couple of years; they caused a riot back in November at the student protests. The coverage of the true message of the protest was obscured both nationally and abroad. It's organisations like Éirígí and their brainless followers who give the international press an impression that the mentality of Irish people still lives in the past, which it most certainly does not. Why do the press care more about the outlandish opinions of the minority rather than the opinions of the majority?

The downfall in takings at Dr Quirkey's will plunge this country deeper into recession, that's a shocking lack of economic patriotism.

    Pure and utter scum.

    excelent picture though.

should be pointed out that half of the pictures were of the protest. typical media just want to highlight the tiniest bit of controversy and hope of violence. the bbc did it when they were covering the bailout protests too.

Yeah, especially a team that was founded by Irish migrants escaping economic hardship and underdevelopment at a time when Ireland was part of the kingdom.

I wondering if those (thankfully few) numpties protesting in Dublin plan on apologising to the Queen for blowing her uncle to smithereens just a few decades ago. Or for the Irish invasion of Britain only a couple of millennia ago.

Nothing to do with the Queen.
Trinity just happened to be the venue, but dont let facts get in the way of your rants

They're not making 'the Irish' look like scumbags, they're making themselves look like scumbags by not protesting peacefully. When there was riots in Greece last week did you think to yourself 'jaysus.. the Greeks are some knackers'?..

I have to say that RTÉ's coverage was actually quite good, in that it focused on the positive not the negative

In other words, it sacrificed truth, accuracy and balance for something which suited your political views?

    I see.

The Greeks are a passionate people though. Everyone knows that.

    Also they invented gayness apparently.

It is a separate country, get over it.

I'm looking at the photos of protesters on the Guardian website and they are all men. Absolutely no women. They all need to get laid

That's another reason for their being ****.

All those protesters are lucky they have jobs that allow them to take time off work to stage their demonstrations.

Unless they're invading oil-rich countries, dressed in lovely suits and articulating their views from positions of power?
