Where is this drive coming from does anyone know?

Who cares if the race cars use less fuel. It's a drop in the ocean compared to the trucks, planes and god only knows what else that goes into just transporting the cars to the race track.

It's a very hollow PR exercise by the looks of things with very little pay offs.

It's all smoke an mirrors. The engine capacity has little to do with fuel comsumption in a racing car. Put simply: x amount of power requires y amount of fuel, multiply that by z the amount of time you are on the throttle and there you go. Thats the biggest factor. Want to make fuel economy a goal? Restrict the fuel tank size, heavily and allow (some) experimentation with fuels.

IMO downforce needs to be reduced to a minimum, bring back reliance on mechanical grip with longer braking distances and the drivers will do the rest.

    I recon a grid of
