Carbon on road or MTB , i have it on MTB love the wight of it and bikes not as stiff! tho there is the worry its going to brake more easy and its costs alot more, i tihnk its worth it!

I had an alluminium Giant SCR 4.0 (entry level but nice enough). Last year I upgraded to a full carbon Time Edge Racer and I noticed a big difference in weight (obviously) but also stiffness and over-all niceness which are more difficult to quantify but they're worth it if you can afford the upgrade and not worth it if you can't, it's up to you to decide.

I went from a 9.5Kg Trek 1.2 to a 7.9Kg Boardman Team Carbon, took 6 minutes off my 37km circuit and finally took me over the 28kmph average. Nice....

Feck! I was hoping nobody would give an answer like that! Would someone please contradict this potentially expensive observation.

    a lot less road buzz.

changed over to carbon this year after being a sceptic for so long. A lot less road buzz and much more comfortable. Stiffer and lighter than my old alu = quicker accerlation. When I say lighter most of the races in ireland are flatish with the exception of a few so that shouldn't be your main priority.

No hilly races Ahem http://www.fourmasterscycling.com/contents/en-us/d4.html :D

anyway went from 20 year old steel frame to entry level carbon. Carbon is stiffer and more comfortable(not being faster is down to me)

I converted to carbon this year and very happy this year. Enjoying my cycling a lot more this year and I am defintely going faster. While it's probably not just down to the carbon frame (I'm probably fitter, better components on the new bike), I'd be very surprised if it's not contributing.

I'm very happy that I bit the bullet on the new purchase!
