That video is amazing really well done, some of the scenes were near perfect.

Yeah - goes to show what happens when Activision throw some money at some guys to make a video.
I'm a bit cynical about this 'viral' marketing stuff - but check out the website they've put together - there's some cool stuff showing how they made the video:

Looks nice, 50 quid for 25000 bbs, or cod, difficult choice, I know 25000 will get me atleast 4 matches, (More usually, kinda in a support gun mood though), but then theres the getting up to pis off american kids.

I'd take the BB's and then save for battlefield 3, CoD's are getting old now, crappy servers and very annoying people, nothing new, i get them for the extra spec ops thing and campaign, then leave it.

The MW2 plot was so disappointing when juxtaposed to CoD4 that I will not buy another CoD game at launch. Wait for Battlefield 3 and profit.

My fav gameplay wise has always been original MOH followed closely by COD 1. epic

25,000 rounds would last me something like 12-14 games... Spraysoft kiddy!

Is it too much to ask for one of these hotshot new games to focus on the single player for a change? It'd be nice to play a game where the campaign/story mode lasted longer than six hours and actually was interesting.

Dear Valve, hurry the hell up with Half Life 3.

I reckon the real market is online though.

Speaking purely from my point of view, I've bought all of the CoD and Battlefield franchise games released over the last few years, and the only times I've played single player are when XBox live was down, or my Internet conection wasnt working or was ropey.
In fact I havent even played single player in Bad Company 2 or MW2. Not once.

Genuine question - is there really enough demand these days for single player first-person shooters to make it worthwhile for the producers to invest millions of dollars in them ?

yup:) i love the single players, especially the Cod's ones, except the black ops one, that story line was so wrong with the guns in it and everything. i hate Cod online because it's the same thing over and over again, get knifed from 20 meres away, respawn and get sniped by a no scoper, use BF for online :)

It is, without question, the real market. Online wasn't as accessable 10 years ago, and the shift has gone from story to online-play since then. Q3 and UT'99 were the goalposts moving, but it was only when Xbox Live kicked off that the revolution really hit.
Nobody wants to develop a game with a huge, sprawling world filled with interesting NPC's to interact with and multiple-option situations (God help you if you make a linear storyline these days...) when they can bang a few dozen levels together in a familiar format with a bunch of well known guns and the ability to call some random 14 year old kid in Oregon a gobshíte from the comfort of your boxers in the living room. It takes ten times the resources and time to make them, and they're not as lucrative for after-sales add-ons (nobody is going to spend real-world money buying a chrome crowbar in Half Life, but they'll spend it to buy chrome Desert Eagles in MW2).

I think there is a demand still there, but I don't think it's going to be lucrative enough to bring out more than one or two worthwhile and original titles in a year across all platforms. Oddly enough for a platform that spawned multiplayer in it's current form, the epic single-player titles are converging on PC now.

Dear Valve, hurry the hell up with Half Life 3.

No chance of that Dex - the arrival of Portal 2 suggests that they have disappeared up their own rears trying to come up with something new for Halflife 3 (or even Half life 2 Episode 3), and in the process became mired in sticky brown stuff (also known as development hell).

That's a pity Tony - they're actually pretty good. While neither made any amount of sense they both had some pretty cool things going for them. Some of the set pieces in MW2 are jaw dropping and the banter between the NPCs in Bad Company 2 was pretty damn good (some truly unique insults in there).

The single player is about all I ever have, and will play in those... Bad company 2 I dabbled online, but its never as fun as the story games you can play whenever you like, at your pace, and without insults flying around in text on the screen.

Im far more interested in story content of a game I buy, than online playablility...

I guess its down to personal taste then - I get bored very quickly with the story-driven single player modes, when I do dip into them. I prefer playing against real people, although yeah, the chatter and insults that fly sometimes drive me nuts.

Thank God for the Mute option :)

I think it depends on the story. I've played CoD4 multiple times, on all difficulties time and time again. MW2 however was played once through on multiplayer and that was all. Horrible stupid story.

Games like Valves TF2/CSS have no story yet the online is so good it continues to this day. Then we have games like Portal 1 and 2, whos story is what the game is all about.
