Valve Leaking

This morning I was pumping my (hybrid - schrader valve?) tyres. After I attached the pump the tyre started losing a lot of air through the valve. When I took the pump off the air leak continued. So my tyre ended up flat and I couldn't pump it up. Did I damage the valve? Is this something that can be fixed or does it mean a new tube?

might have a bit of grit in the valve. you could bring it to a (car) tyre place and they'll stick a new valve in for you. did the same myself a few months ago and the guy didn't charge me for it.

Schrader is the car tyre type valve. The 'pin' in the middle can actually be screwed out so it may have come loose. You can tighten it with a special tool - or if you don't have one, a Bic pen cover, safety pin or small flat head screwdriver will fit down there.
