When you go out and preform tricks to the public when you are not ready, you give magicians in general a bad name. I am nearly willing to bet that almost every person here who preforms regularly has met people who dislike magic simply because they have only ever been exposed to bad magic.

I agree with this. I grew up disliking magic because I once watched a bad magician when I was young. So I grew up thinking that it's just a fraud. Fortunately, some great magicians were able to change that. But I can't help but think what difference it would have made if I bought a few magic sets when I was a kid.

I think the best way for a person who has a passion for magic and wants to starts learning is to go on the internet and find some free tutorials. This is the way that I learnt by weeks if not months for some trying to master a trick.

Thank you for the post! Very hard to know how to turn a fascination to a hobby to (maybe) a career! :)
