    Hi all,

Looking for advice on a roof rack for my bike for going to triathlons.

I can't use the ones tied to the boot as i need access to the boot for kids buggy etc and i find them messy and the tow bar is a no go as my wife doesn't want one on the car !

I (occasionally) use a cheap (€17) rack from NorAuto (picked up on the hols in France). Needs a spanner to fit to the car so not really suitable for quick on/off mounting. Bike is secured by two straps through the wheels and a hand-tightened down-tube clamp. Has behaved well on long trips across France.

    THULE

i have 15 year old carriers going strong and 2 roof racks (one for an old corolla that doesnt fit anything anymore) wouldnt buy anything else (expensive - yes worth it yes imo)

Cyclesuperstore is where I got mine from, they had a decent selection last time I checked. Halfords also have a good range of Thule products.

If you got a Ford Focus 2007+ I have a Thule roof rack (aerobars) I'm selling. I've recently changed cars. I must put an add in the adverts, too lazy.

i think the one i have now came from micks garage (previous one was bought in uk when i lived there)

personally i dont like clamping carbon tubes so i use oone of these

clamps the forks and rear wheel - but the you need a fronnt wheel carrier (plenty of space in my car so i put it in the boot)

but pro cars use those sort of racks and i'd trust a thule more than most other manufacturers

FWIW, you can get a towbar that the hitch detaches , and one where the hitch folds away, so it's not there when in use.
Don't know why your wife doesn't want one though, they're incredibly useful.

Roofrack wise - THULE all the way - wouldn't trust anything else.

I recently bought two of these for 98 euro...half the price of the thule equivalent and I've very happy!

But they need roofbars to fit onto first.

I may be interested in that Hungrycol, is there a price?

I should probably do it ligit and put it on adverts.ie or in the cycling adverts. I haven't even thought about a price but I'll have a think and get back to you or let you be aware of the ad.

Mods, let me know of any infraction on the above (before being yellow carded )

    That's fair enough.
