Pretty straightforward problem - the locate command only finds files on my primary hard drive, ignoring the two other ones where all my media files reside. Is there some way of forcing locate to index drives other than the one where / is mounted?

Make sure those 2 are mounted and run "updatedb"? ( http://linux.die.net/man/1/locate )

    They're all automounted and ext3. I'll check updatedb.conf.

    Problem solved, thanks.

/media was in the PRUNEPATHS list. It might not be such a good idea that I have my drives mounted there come to think of it as now any USB sticks or CDs will be included in the locate db. I can always explicitly exclude /media/disk etc. if needs be.
