    Hi Jason,

Quick question.. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 100mb connection, if using the boards deal do I still have to pay the activation charge?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi unklerosco

The boards offer is for new customers not for upgrades, if you do not have UPC broadband currently, you can order your 100mb broadband via the boards offer and get free activation. www.upc.ie/boardsoffer

    Regards

    Jason

So technically I can just cancel my contract and get the missus to sign up and get free activation?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi unklerosco

Afraid not, if you are in contract with us and cancel you will have a cancellation charge applied.

    Hi Jason,
I phoned UPC on March 16th regarding the voucher and was told that a manager in the office just happened to have a Woodies voucher to hand and that it was being sent out in the post that very day. Having received nothing, I emailed UPC a few days ago chasing this up but haven't yet heard back from anyone. Is there someone else I can call, or do I just need to go back through the same process again? I'm beginning to give up hope!

    thanks,
    Kaz.

    Hi Jason,
the voucher arrived this morning and to be honest I'm a bit miffed. It expires this Friday! It was bought on April 15th 2010 and is valid for one year from that date. It even has the expiry date printed on it. I have three days to spend the money. I work full time and was looking forward to going to the garden centre over a weekend to pick out nice things for the garden to do it up for Spring. I'm not sure I'll get to spend the voucher now, so a bit of a waste to be honest.

    Hi KazDub

Sorry, never seen the date, please call my team direct on 1890 940635, they can contact Woodies direct to see if that can be extended or replaced for you

I think once you use it once, the expiry date is extended for another 2 years.

So you could buy something small and still have the balance for a further 2 years.

I'm going to have to head out today at lunch to Woodies and ask them myself. I've made my initial phone call to UPC where I was told that they'd look in to this for me and get back to me later that day or the following morning. The following afternoon I had to phone again to chase them up. They still have no idea what the story is. I'm being told that they 'don't think' that there is an expiry on the voucher, but I have it here on the receipt in black and white. I was then told that they are having a hard time getting a response from their contact in Woodies. NOT MY PROBLEM!!! If I have to spend €50 today in my lunch break I will be severly, unimpressed.

Is it just me or is there no options for a Woodies voucher on the Boards UPC section? It's just DID Electrical and Carphone Warehouse

Hi Kaz, this is probably a stupid question but are you absolutely sure the expiry date says 2011 and not 2012? The reason I ask is my voucher says its valid for 2 years from date of issue, not 1, so its valid until 2013.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 334 ✭✭KazDub

That's what the voucher said. Anyway, I called in to Woodies on Friday and got the credit transferred on to a new card. The new one is valid for 2 years according to the receipt given with it.

Regarding the current deal, as far as I'm aware the Woodies vouchers aren't being offered any more. Lucky for me, as I've no use for the ones that are.

Even though I've resolved the problem myself, I still haven't had a phonecall back from UPC. They're supposed to be trying to contact someone in Woodies. What's it they say about if you want a job done, best do it yourself?!

Well at least you got your Woodies voucher mate. I've been sending emails back and forth since the 11th March regarding mine and still no resolution. How frustrating is that? If they cant get the bloody things anymore then offer me something else and stop stringing me along like a donkey chasing a dangled carrot!

    Rant over!!!!!

    Hi all

Sorry, as I mentoned a few posts back, I have been on annual leave for a while, so havent been in a position to reply. In answer to some PM's that I have received, yes, this offer is still on and is still valid.

Vouchers for DID Electrical and for The Carphone Warehouse are available, vouchers for Woodies & Atlantic are currently not available due to a technicality, however we are working to get that going again ASAP.

There are a couple of people waiting for vouchers for Woodies, and those will be sorted this week now that I am back.

This is an excellent deal, considering, not only do you get a €50 voucher if you order a new product line with UPC, but you also get free activation of that product, so this can add up if you order more that one box.

If you want to order, please do so here www.upc.ie/boardsoffer

I will respond to all above today.

    Thanks a million.

    Regards

    Jason

Your right Jason this is a great offer, i joined boards just so i could avail of it. I was with Sky and Vodafone at home, so this deal saves me a small fortune, but since i got conected on Thursday i have been on to customer service 4 times.... First from Thursday until Saturday internet would not work (2 calls) Then yeasterday and today TV signal going off and back on (1 call) and then internet connection going off and back on resulting in another call.... Hopefully this will be sorted tomorrow, but in 7 years with Sky I only rang them twice and 1 year with Vodafone 1 call. So it is no good having a great deal but a poor product...

    Cheers Walter White

    Thanks for the feedback

Hope all gets sorted for you quickly, seems you have been very unfortunate, enjoy your product and your voucher

    Hi Jason,
I tried to order online awhile ago but it wouldn't go through, so I ended up calling up and ordering over the phone.

Can I still avail of this offer though? Am due to have our UPC connected tomorrow, really looking forward to it, have been messed around by Vodafone for far too long.

    Sinead

    Hi there sineadcochrane

The link is working fine I just tested it. If you want to proceed and order again via this boards offer, you will need to cancel your order with the department you ordered from or call 1890 940635. There will be a delay as a new order needs to be created.

    Thanks

    Jason

When I tried to order online the site didn't work for me, seems like far too much hassle now to cancel and reorder, don't want to mess anything up. Thanks anyway.

    Thanks

I ordered UPC broadband online, all confirmed by email.
No one showed up to install.

Called UPC who told me to order was not confirmed.

Took a day off work for nothing.

Something similar happened to me before. Ordered online, picked a date, took the day off work. No sign of anyone turning up to install so I ring them in the evening. They tell me my ordered was cancelled (I was never informed of this) because I owe them money. Now it was a brand new account, and I'd never had an account with them before, so obviously I don't owe them any money.
They ask me to send them a copy of my rental agreement which I don't have (as I own the house) and my passport. No way I was sending them my passport, I'd never see it again the way they are so went with Eircom instead.
Considering trying to get this deal though when my contract is up with Vodafone.
