Gonna an unproductive day in work tomorrow!

In fact, sunny day and I ate lunch at my desk so I could read draft news on my PC :o

Cant wait for it. Should be unpredictable this year. Lots of trades being mentioned.

I basically condensed the topic of American Football and everything it entails into one hour long conversation at lunch with a girl I work with. She made the rookie error of asking "Oh, and what's the draft then?". Don't think she got a word in after that. She'll never ask me to go to lunch ever again :D:pac:

I think the question on all our minds is "Would you hit that?" and "Is she hot"...... :D

I studied this morning, went for a game of golf, epic day outside and now am browsing the Mock Sites and NFL news sites for news. Anyone else notice how slow all the sites are. Id say servers in the US are struggling with the demand.

Skeptical about watching the Draft on NFL.com tonight. Looks like I making it my business to be at home in the Rents house where we have ESPN.

Article just up on espn with Carolina team sources claiming team has narrowed it down to 4 possible players . Cam Newton , AJ Green , Marcell Dareus or Patrick Peterson .

Apparently trading down to the second round is also an option , I can`t see that happening though .

Is it just the first round shown tonight?

Denver media+schefter reporting that our pick is very likely to be Von Miller. Would personally have preferred Dareus but that pick is fine by me, I trust John Fox to know what he's doing on defence, he's very good at picking front 7 players.

Yes, just the 1st round tonight

Mike Mayock reckons Von Miller for the Broncos also. It's a deep draft for the defensive line and there are options in the 2nd round if they don't Darius

Very interesting if you're a pats fan:

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/28/patriots-have-spoken-with-browns-about-sixth-pick/

I'd love to get Patrick Paterson or Julio Jones or AJ Green as long as the trade only involves trading our 2 1st rounders as compo.

As for my draft plans, it kicks off 8pm my time so no worries there, i'm going to order in some pizza and beers and set up my War Room, which will include:
    • TV with ESPN on
    • .
    • Laptop #1
    • NFL Network stream so i can mute and unmute depending on who has ads at a given time
    • .
    • Laptop #2
    • Profootballtalk tab for rumours
    • Boards.ie tab for banter
    • Patfans.com tab for banter
    • SI.com for a look at how the players are graded
    • and some more website, any recomendations?
    • .
    • iphone with Twitter on the go (Usuallly get the Pats' picks b4 they're announced and intel from Schefter and others is vital)
How lame is that? :D Can't wait thos its going to be epic.

Only problem is that i will wait all night for the the Pats to pick and when you think the are just about to pick they'll trade out of the position...cock teases!

Also i'll be 'working' from home tomorrow just so i can spend the day reading the Round 1 analysis and the expectations for Round 2 & 3 and i wont be bothered by stupid work stuff!!

It makes sense tbh, any front 7 pick is fine by me. No point in us picking peterson if hed have to spend 10 seconds covering a receiver each time, far as im concerned. I'm excited by the prospect, Miller is an electric talent at LB and John Fox's track record in the front 7 speaks for itself (Peppers, Beason, Braxton, Davis, Charles Johnson). He's also been successful in every first round pick hes taken:

DE Julius Peppers (all-pro), OT Jordan Gross (all-pro), CB Chris Gamble (24 career interceptions), OLB Thomas Davis, RB DeAngelo Williams (all-pro), OLB/MLB Jon Beason (all-pro), RB Jonathan Stewart (1,000 yard rusher) and OT Jeff Otah.

A lot or rumours about that the Patriots are looking to move up to 6 or 9. If its 6 they are suggesting its Julio Jones, if its 9 people are saying its Cameron Jordan they want.

Jordan had a private workout and an interview with the Patriots but they haven't had any contact with Jones so I don't believe the move to 6 is on. As for Jordan, well I'd be shocked if they have to move that high to get him.

Personally I'd love to see us take JJ Watt as I've said before but its highly unlikely given his agent.

The more trades and moving about the better.

I've also seen Robert Quinn and Patrick Peterson mentioned if they move up to six.

Just going by the pick value chart here: http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php The Patriots would have to give up both 1st rounders to get up to 6th or the 19th, 60th and 125th picks to get up to 9th. I can't see them going up to 6th but 9th is a possibility if a player like Peterson falls that far.

*I have no idea if that pick value chart is accurate or if teams accept less valued picks when looking to trade back.

Edit: Schefter just tweeted that any proposed Cowboys-Patriots trade won't happen. Looks like the Cowboys leaked the "story" to try drum up interest in the pick.

This is what I'd like if the Patriots use a bucket of picks and things fall right. I'm excluding JJ Watt who I would love with the first pick because I don't think its likely as explained above.

    Cameron Jordan DE/OLB
    Nate Solder OT
    Brandon Harris CB
    Will Rackley OG
    Allen Bailey DE/DT
    Brandon Fusco C
    TJ Yates QB
    Dontavia Bogan WR
    Derrick Locke RB

Something I love about the draft are the rowdy fans

The first year I watched it, the presenters commented you could tell when the Patriots were on the clock as all the New Yorkers would start jeering :p

    They're booing Goodell right now
These New Yorkers, they're not shy anyway

Goodell handled it v well. No doubt he knew what was coming. Nice touch with the Bama and War Eagle boys.
