Neighbours children looking into our garden

I would really appreciate some advice on what to do about our neighbours children looking into our garden. The story goes like this...
We moved into our new house about 3 years ago as did our neighbours. They positioned a child's climbing frame close to the wall separating our houses. We have two children 3 and 7 who are great at playing together. Whenever they go out to play the two kids next door immediatley climb up and peer into our garden and then start telling our kids to do stuff like sit on the grass or throw water at each other. Their kids are 3 and 5. It has gotten to the stage that if either my wife or I go out to hang stuff on the line they are straight up and peering over and asking questions about the clothes we are hanging out! At other times the 5 yr old gets up on the climbing frame and stares straight into our kitchen window. We have told the kids a few times to stop staring but they keep doing it. Another thing is that they have no side gates on their house so the minute they hear our car or kids they come running out and start asking questions like, "where are you going"? "What's in that bag?",

I guess my reason for posting here is to ask for some advice on how to approach it. Our kids do play with these two little girls from time to time, and we are friendly with the the family. But enough is enough, we can't move without them looking in and asking questions. On occasions their father has been in the garden abs he has told his kids to stop looking in, but they ignore him quite often.

I am going to buy a tree today and plant it to try and win back some privacy, any ideas what I should go for?

As I said before my wife is very upset and feels trapped as do my kids. My daughter of 7 yesterday told the 5 yr old to stop looking into our garden as it was rude, I think the patents heard this so we will see what happens today.

This needs to be moved for your own safety.
Sounds like the kids deserve to kick to the face though :P

Really though, just say it to the parents. Say you're afraid they're going to fall or something even. Simples

My two sons get a new pet,
Anyone who wants to climb on my wall gets barked at or bitten...

Never answer them and they won't be long going. They probably have nothing to do or play with so they look over the wall for excitement.

A water sprinkler aimed that at particular spot would also act as a bit of a deterrent!

Well that and the rotwieler as mentioned above...

We have a Kerry blue and their kids keep comung up to our side gate and the dog barks at them and they then run off crying. But they end up back on their climbing frame!

Well it's their property so we can't really tell them to get down

I reckon though if you said it to the parents they'd understand.
Thinking about it this would really annoy me. I hate driving behind a car with kids in the back who stare out the window.

I had a similar situation, kids at the back had a slide in the garden and they'd climb up and hang over our wall, was no harm really just annoying.

I bought some trellis and attached it to the back wal and grew some climbing plants so it gives us a lot more privacy, our wall is about 8 ft now and it's a lot nicer to sit in the back garden without interruptions.

Break into their garden at night and cover the top half of the climbing frame with vaseline. And watch the hilarity ensue the next day.

To fix this problem you will need a few things.

1. Rubber gloves that go all the way up to the elbow
2. A long white apron
3. Goggles
4. Rob Zombie cd
5. A large pig (dead is optional)
6. Chainsaw
7. A lot of plastic sheeting

Next time the kids are being nosey you can put on a bit of a show for them.

I had kids like this next door to me, except they had a trampoline - very annoying - the heads bobbing up & down actually made their stupid faces & voices more annoying - every time I went into the garden they'd say "hi" and look over and tell me something about what they did or what toy they got. It's cute at first, but every time wears thin very quick. They'd keep saying my name until I replied.

Anyway, I put up bamboos against the wall - they grow very quick & tall. I don't mean the bamboo stalks - I mean the full plants with leaves, etc. So they couldn't see in anymore.

Buy the neighbours a trampoline instead of the climbing frame.

That will cut down on them looking over your wall by 50%

That sounds extremely irritating but as i see it you have two options:

Build a wall and forget about it or, as a friend of mine would say, Build a bridge and get over it.

when they are out, climb into their garden and loosen some of the nuts & bolts on the climbing frame - wait for the thing to break and hope it doesn't get replaced.

Get your own climbing frame and sit on it watching the neighbours from your garden....
They'll be a lot quicker and putting up a fence or plant then...

Ask them questions and say things like I'm glad you're up that frame looking in at me will you be their tomorrow as well?

And answer questions in detail before they ask like saying we got some fantastic fruit and vegetables and they are yummy we must get some you your tea too.

They'll soon take little notice as they won't want to be answering your questions and especially if you repeat you own questions to them like they do.

And if you answer in a lengthy factual manner you'll see their eyes glaze over and they'll run away. Never give one word answers, they feed on this, they are only children after all, and they really don't want to know your details, but this has become a game for them, now you play it too and it'll ease off and stop.
