Would enough ppl be on for a beers/meet up?

I'm an avid funk fan/collector and love meeting others to share my love of funk and to learn of theirs.
Even if I spent the rest of my life seeking out funk I'll never know it all so I love meeting other funk minded people (the more rare the better ;-0) and I've seen other sub forums on here arrange a beers night so would enough people be on for it to for me to make the effort of booking a room in a bar somewhere and organising a turntable (or set) to sit around, have some beers and jive talk about funk for the night. Taking turns to play your fav funk tunes. No DJ skills needed.

What you think?

Give enough notice so say some time in June? In Dublin.

I may have posted this a bit prematurely, seems I may be starting a night in June in a place in Dublin City, gonna be a funk night. Stay tuned I guess. :cool:

The Dublin soul festival is on later in the month. Perhaps you could organise a meet for some boardsies at that or one of the related events.

Nice to see a bit of interest in this. Well, I'm not just knee deep, I'm totally deep in exams atm but I'm also trying to get this weekly funk night up and running for the start of June. It is slowly coming together and I'll post details as they get confirmed.

Right, this seems to have evolved a bit, but I'd like to kinda incorporate the original idea a bit. Here is what I'm thinking:
From 8-9 is the meet up. Funk collectors and fans can bring along a few choice records and play 2 at a time. Have a drink, chat, whatever.
Then at 9 the DJs and MC come on and do their thing. If the 8-9 thing takes off we can stretch it from 7:30 or 7.
Of coarse everyone is welcome to come to the meet up part.
As the night progresses it'll get more up tempo for those who wanna dance. :cool:

I just remembered, there is a little room in the back of the Bernard Shaw where I was at a SoundCloud meet up before. If I booked it for some time in July would enough people be interested in showing up with a few records? I've got a vestax portable and I'll bring some decent speakers.

So here is the deal:

Saturday 2nd July - The Courtyard of The POD

6-7 is the meet up part. Then 7-11 is The Break DJs and MC doing their thing.
Free in and some great drink specials

From classic funk jams to rare gems, peppered with some soul and disco The Breaks is all that and the dip! :cool:
