Can this be done, a router that picks up signal and sends it further?

Basically, im moving my xbox outside to our patio to play it in the sun

but the wireless router signal cant reach that far, so is it possible to by another sort of wireless signal extender router? Get what I mean? A router that will pick up the original signal and send it further? Cheers.

i have a tp link router myself, they're oddly cheap but work flawlessly

If you have an old router laying around that is any way decent you could set it to bridge mode to act as a repeater. Not all routers will allow you to do this though.

Oh I must try that! How to I connect a router to the internet being sent from the router connect to the phone line? Any guides? Im on eircom btw.

U need router that can handle ddwrt and u r sorted for repeater then

Wire your router up into the attic it should send the signal out further.

Hi,
I'm still struggling to get wifi to my Acer Aspire Revo in the granny flat,
This sounds like yet another solution I should try.

Would the tp link router above work ok with a g wireless router with 24 mbps signal?

What do you mean? What im wondering is it possible for another router to pick up the signal of the router, like a laptop, that is connected to the phone line and then send it on further, without needing to connect the 2 routers by an Ethernet cable. Can this be done wirelessly?

Yeh you can either do the above, or if you have the time you can run a network cable from your broadband connection on the wall up into the attic and put your router up there and it will extend the broadcast range of your router. ie to your patio so you can play your xbox!
