    Anything that cuts down on battery use is welcome and at the price they appear to be a good buy. Only worry is the quotes about how long the light lasts after winding up. Batteries do tend to last well on latest lights.

    How long is your journey? You don't want to be cycling home at night with the rear light off if you've not wound it up enough. We tend not to keep looking behind us to see if its still working!

    BTW is there anything decent on the tele later?:D

    I use rechargeables. Less wasteful of batteries. You need to keep a note of when you last charged them and how often you've used them so you can make sure that you're not caught with flat batteries. I find a rechargeable battery will last quite a few years if you use an old-style slow charger.

    My girlfriend has a wind up light for camping. It is OK but requires a fair bit of cranking. For a bike light I wouldn't bother- use rechargeables, or if you really want to get rid of the batteries get a dynamo.
