    Hi i'm currently a fourth year in enginering and have heard rumours that during the graduation ceremony we graduate in order of your placement in the class and was just wondering if anyone knows if this is true or nor

    Yes, those who get 1.1's sit at the front of the group. Then you're grouped into 2.1's, 2.2's, etc.

    Think it's alphabetical, as in you get called up in groups of six. I was at commencements on Monday for my masters so unless it's different for undergrads, but I don't think it is.

    It's in order of classification (I, II.1, II.2, III), but within those groups it's alphabetical.

    Your class is divided into the class of the degree, first class honours, second class honours and pass. The 2.1s and 2.2s are all lumped in together and sorted alphabetically.
