Windows 7,Ubuntu.Mint or other?

    running windows vista at the moment but got a virus a few weeks back got t fixed but there's still some random freezing and stuff.
    my father thinks we should just upgrade to windows 7.have been running ubuntu with wubi for a few weeks but has recently stop booting.
    its a few yrs old. specs on pc are,
    hp a6210.uk
    AMD Athlon 642 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10GHz
    1 gb ddr2 ram(planing on adding more soon)
    integrated audio card
    cant find the name of Graphics card (dont want to open it up at the moment)
    what do you think?

    .... available in various desktop flavours ... KDE, Gnome, Efce, LXDE etc etc

    Only you can determine what will suit you ...... and to do that requires some research => download and run a few different distros to make a comparison.

    You can always dual-boot Linux with Windows 7 to keep your father happy.

    If there's nothing that you absolutely need Windows for that can be provided in linux (eg gaming), then you should seriously install Linux Mint for a few weeks before upgrading to 7. It's free, so you've nothing to lose and it's worth a trial.

    If I were you I would install Fedora, and within Fedora create a virtual machine with Windows 7 for your dad. Then the next time you get a virus, just refresh the snapshot.
