It's Dan-yell. I know Danielles from England and Ireland and this is how they would pronounce it. I'm always right so you may as well just close the thread :)

Dan-yel. Adding a third syllable just makes the name sound odd.

However they pronounce it themselves. I would tend toward opt one if I were reading it though.

Yes. It's pronounced dan-yell. Anyone who pronounces otherwise is either a fool, a mountebank or both.

I'vee seen a fancy version of that name spelt "Featherstonehaugh", pronounced "Fenshaw".

    Only in England!

The pronunciation of Ralph as 'Rafe', as in Ralph/Rafe Fiennes, is the gold-standard for dick-headish pronouciation of a name.
Admittedly, though, it does sound much better with his surname and he's a damn good actor. So, fair play to him.

It seems to be an old world thing. Ralph Vaughan-Williams (1872-1958) always pronounced his name "rafe" (he was English).

Good point. Still though, old-world and English or not, wherever and whenever a name is being pronounced in a dick-headish manner, i'll be there with a tepid, mealy-mouthed refutation of it.
