It's not sexist, it is discriminatory though. The two are very different.

Edited: hollypink beat me to it!

    Real men run marathons.

This is quite the outrage indeed.

I'm bringing a case to stop all those lads playing soccer in the Premier League and leaving the women out.

    I Am Furious

In fairness it's mostly pansies in the premier league these days anyway. Women would be far more enjoyable to watch.

If they're going to do it then I'd suggest taking a leaf out of the american playbook

    Clearly the OP does.

I wonder could we organise a hunky dorys mini-marathon.

Is there no all male charity events?

I'm not sure but I wouldn't really have a problem with either tbh. Think there is a far more worrying examples of sexist and discriminatory thinking in areas that have more of a direct effect on men's lives in Ireland that the mini-marathon.

In fact it would be nice if men arranged similar events, for the fact that our own Government is clearly sexist when it comes to health matters that effect men exclusively.

You won't be seeing prostrate screening ads in your local cinema at time soon for example or websites dedicated to male cancer screening programmes the way there are for breast and cervical cancers.

    http://www.cervicalcheck.ie/

Guess they're still working on ..

So yeah, wouldn't be too worried about the marathons - bigger fish to fry.

I remember a men's health initiative all right though - "Check your engine" or something (lame - because of course all men are really into cars :)) with Ray Darcy doing the ads.

I thought men were allowed run in this if they're in drag? Not in the competitive part, but in the charity section.

Bothers me that they call it a mini marathon and most participants can't even run it all.

I does annoy me as I would like to do the race sometime but only if my husband ran it with me - if these were more family events it would be more fun.
