    ^^ No way! :pac:

I hate good books that have the movie images on them along with "now a major motion picture".

Hope I've linked this right, it's the HBO podcast link from iTunes with all 47 trailers, making of's etc. to date.

I'm avoiding pretty much all trailers and stuff now, although I did watch some a few weeks back. I'm not worried about spoilers as I've read the books, but more that I don't want to ruin my anticipation by seeing too many clips. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out on screen though.

Quick Question - Will we be able to discuss episodes in a new thread here, or will we have to go to the TV forum for it? It is one of those either or questions really.

Unlikely to be successful I'd say, especially since the whole forum creation thing seems to have largely stopped 6 months ago. If we get to season 2, then maybe.

Dont see why we couldnt discuss it in here? Cant imagine it would warrant a seperate forum unless it became a massive hit

Of course you can discuss it here! There's probably going to be threads in the TV forum too but I imagine we might get mor indepth discussion here and maybe a different thread for those watching who've read the books.

Cool. Some people get sensitive about threads in the wrong place. Perhaps this thread for non advance spoiler posts, and another one as you say for more spoilered talk? Bit different to most TV shows in that respect really.

This might be a bit of a downer on peoples expectations so i'll spoiler it, though its probably stating the obivous..
The 10-hour series will be pretty condensed. The series is going to consist of 10 episodes at roughly an hour apiece, but even at 10 hours, much will be missed. If you enjoy the series, as we think you likely will, consider going back and reading the book. And then start in on the rest of the series, in anticipation of what will (very hopefully) be a long running series.

Regarding discussion threads, we'd almost need a thread for those who have read the book(s) and those who have not. :pac:
Is that too much to ask?!

I'd would be great to discuss episodes within the larger context of the book(s) without having to spoiler EVERY line of a post.

Regardless, I presume we can have at least one thread per episode?

Well I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to have two threads per episode [one for the readers, and one for the viewers].

How about: One thread per episode? And then a single thread for those who've read the book - after all it won't need spoilers since we all know what's going to happen.

    That should cater for everyone.

    Just watched the first episode.

I really liked it. Couple of gripes with characters ages, but I guess they had to do that because of nudity etc. Don't like Catelyn Stark's actor but I guess she won't figure in it that much this season so that's fine.

Opening credits are pretty sweet as well.

Waiting until tonight to watch it but I can't wait!

I've heard some really good things about the first episode. Will watch later for definite.

Seems like HBO are really pushing it which bodes well for more than 1 season.

Yeah it would be great to get the other books made.
I also agree there seems to be a big push from HBO but im sure thats (in part at least) a response to the huge attention it has been getting from fans online since the project was announced!

    Winter is coming.

Just hearing that out-loud from Eddard and Benjen made me shiver.

It's pretty much everything I wanted and imagined. Ice was just perfect, the shot of Eddard with it was beautiful. The direwolves, Winterfell,Kings Landing, Khal Drogo, Viserys,Arya,Robb,Jon are all exactly like I imagined.

The best bit by far was Sandor Clegane and his armour. That image was fantastic, can't wait to see Gregor in it in a few episodes.

A Song of Ice and Fire are my favourite books ever, so I was really hyped up for this, and it really delivered. Also Daenerys, wow :)

    Really enjoyed the first episode!

A lot of the scenes and characters were exactly as I imagined whilst reading the book especially the Wall which just looks epic.. The characters all look really well too and using older characters was definitely an effective strategy. Especially for Danaery's character, all I can say to that is Jaysus ;) Also the guy playing Tyrion is perfect and not just for the obvious physical reasons. Looking forward to the next episode already.

Just echoing what most people said here - generally good casting. Of them all Dinklage is the most perfect as Tyrion.
Isn't Snow younger than the actor playing him? I thought he was 14/15 at this point.
I thought Viserys was a bit OTT in performance, although it was enjoyable.
Ronan Dex looked the part - be interesting to see what he does with the material.

Show also looked very pretty - good production values for the most (when Bran was clambering around it did look a little fake at times).

Danaery's certainly didn't waste any time. :pac:

Smashing stuff. Have got the missis hooked though only as I was able to give the backstory to keep her interest. A great start can only get better as things hot up.

Was that Theon Greyjoy hanging with the Stark boys? Didn't catch a name.

Ya, I'd presume it was. Disappointed they didn't introduce him, one of my favourite characters.

Yeah I think it was Theon who snaps at Jon and tells him he serves his father and not him.

He's 14 at the start of the first book, but he's 17 in the show. Most of the children are a bit older than in the book, for practical reasons. There's no way they could get away with Daenerys being 13 like she is at the start of the book, for instance.
