    Hi,

Is it possible to install a virtual computer running Linux on windows 7. If so, can it connect to the internet ?

    Thanks.

    Yes, that is no problem.

Virtual PC is free from Microsoft. Works fine on Win 7 and allows you to share devices and hardware.

I have 2 linux versions and a virtual copy of XP running on my Win 7 laptop

Don't forget you could also use something like www.cygwin.com if you just want to run many linux apps in windows, handy for learning / using windows command line in your live system.
