I always get weirdly obsessed with bands and listen to them and pretty much them alone for a short period of time, rack up hundreds of plays, and then get sick of them and move on to the next item on the agenda. It's happened with most of my top artists - Two Door Cinema Club (1000+ plays on one album and a few demos, I can barely stand them anymore), The National, kinda Arcade Fire but that was dispersed a bit so it's not too bad, then Radiohead, although they have such a big back catalogue I haven't quite got there yet.

I couldn't do that. Sure I listen to songs like Superfreak by Rick James every day, 2 or 3 times, cos I love them but I want to enjoy them forever and not let them get stale.

I've heard of people who do that alright. I'd say it's pretty common. My friend listened to Foo Fighters songs obsessively and repeatedly for a spell. By the end of weeks and months, he hated it so much, he tried to chuck it out the window. I think he did it in the end.
