    Hi all,

My doctor has referred me to the Blackrock Clinic for an allergy test with Dr. Bruce Mitchell. I think he said it would cost €170. Anyone have any idea if some of this is covered by health insurance (VHI) or if this price is similar to others have paid.
    Thanks!

It is at least 3 or 4 years since we had one of our kids with Dr Mitchell and my recollection is that the 170e has to be paid by yourself on the day of the consultation - this bill can be submitted with any other medical bills that you have on the outpatient claim form to the VHI, think VHI cover only about 60e of the 170e, but I stand to be corrected !

I also seem to remember that he ordered blood tests which had to be paid for separately. I suggest that you ring his secretary to clarify if there are any other charges other than the 170e

Thanks so much for getting back to me. Sounds like my doc might have been right so. Just wasn't sure whether I should believe him or not :D
I'll phone tomorrow just to double check.

I just finished my lot of allergy testing with Bruce Mitchell. It's €170 per consultation and then blood tests are paid to Blackrock Clinic and the skin patch and skin prick tests are paid to Bruce Mitchell. If you need to go in for a food challenge test then that is paid to Blackrock Clinic also.

You'll get €60 back on the €170 with VHI, my plan covered only soe of the treatments and tests I got done - mine is first plan level 1 so Plan B covers everything afaik.

if you have any questions please let me know. Bruce Mitchell is great, very to the point.
