12 String recommendations...

    Hey guys,

    Can anyone recommend a good 12 string electro acoustic? Looking for one below 1000euro, prob around the 600 price range and there's alot of choices out there. Am thinking of the Takamine EG523SC or an Ovation CSE445-RRB, reviews seem good, particularly for the Takamine. Guitar will probably be ordered online as most stores in Dublin seem to have a poor selection of 12 strings. If anyone has advice on either of these guitars or another recommendation it would be appreciated.

    I wouldn't be ordering an expensive acoustic online Tony. Better to try out first in a shop. Give these lads a ring .....not too far from Dundalk ...they do lovely guitars and they will try to match online prices also. They have the nicest acoustic I have ever played up there in the shop. A taylor GA-5 ...it ain't a 12-string unfortunately and is a little out of your price range (2200:D) anway but you should give them a ring to see what they have in the 12 string range.
    There's also the soundshop in Drogheda.

    I had an Art Luthrie 12 string a few years back that I bought for about 500 euro and it was absolutley gorgeous to play. Ended up popping a shadow soundhole pup in it and it was of giggable standard plugged in, but just open on its own it really sang

    Would recommend asking a shop to order it in, will only take a few days and then you have come back. Someone to set it up if needs be.

    Got one in for a guy there not to long ago, the Takamine is really nice! Sweet all around sound, great body and sounds really nice plugged in too.
