vaccinate for BVD

    Hi all,
    anyone here vaccinate for bvd,ibr and does it work, we intend on vaccinating the cows before getting them in calf this year. what if the animal already has the disease? thanks

    My advice would be to test the herd first if dairying a simple milk test preferably when all cows are milking, if suckling, get the bloods tested, can be done on blood taken for brucellosis, see what results you get from that if infection is found (BVD) root out the offenders, if antibodies are high there has been recent exposure in the herd, consult with http://www.ahi.ie for practical sound advice.

    Where can ya get the milk tested and does it cost much?! Thanks

    It's only worth it if you have lepto talk to your vet before you do anything get the cows tested first.
