Water Troughs - how to clean?

Cleaning water Troughs - tis a job I hate. I know how important it is to keep them clean, animal health etc. Just wondering how do people clean theirs? Those large concrete ones must take some time. With big herds and a rotational system, do people end up cleaning them every day.
Heard over on the UK Farming Forum about someone using Goldfish. They'd hardly keep the water fresh though.
I like the idea of the stainless ones you can tip over.

I heard a handful of lime every now and then keeps the water crystal clean and is no harm to the cattle but i haven't tried it yet myself

we used the vacuum tanker and the 2" suction pipe got out alot of the crap. the lime sound like its worth a try. lime is meant to be a good disinfectent.

I pull the bungs out before the winter, protects the concrete ones and leaves them clean for the spring.
